CeLeBRaTion Tip of the Day:
Make a Honeymoon Basket for newlyweds in your family.
When both of my older children got married, we presented them with a goody basket to take with them on their honeymoon.
I bought a basket, and in the weeks leading up to the wedding, I collected little goodies to tuck inside...things that I thought they'd enjoy while they were away.
Kristin and Brian have been married for 12 years now, and Ryan and Sarah have been married 8 1/2, long before I had a blog or the inclination to take pictures of everything, so I don't have a photo of either of the baskets I created. This one, however, is a good representation.
What can you put in a honeymoon basket?
- Sparkling grape juice
- Wine glasses (disposable ones will do)
- Granola bars
- Crackers
- Scented candles
- Small bottle of ibuprofen
- Mints
- Pocket packet of tissues
- Gum
- Hand sanitizer
- A note or a message for the happy couple
After you fill it, wrap it in cellophane or place it in a cellophane basket bag and tie it with a pretty ribbon.
And there you have it...a practical gift to send along with the new couple, and a little reminder that you are rejoicing with them!

A framed picture of Mom... LOL
ReplyDeleteThis is a really thoughtful idea. And it can be customized for the type of trip they are taking.
That sounds like a winning idea. We are a strange family preferring to run off to Vermont and get married, but perhaps it would also work for an anniversary. Yes, I think that it would.
ReplyDeleteYou're on the home stretch now, Cheryl! (It continues to amaze me how quickly time is zipping by. I don't think that I was as aware of this pre-blogging.)
"A framed picture of Mom" hahahahahahhahaha... My first sentence is quite amusing considering Joanne's comment.
ReplyDeleteWonderful idea, Cheryl. Nice for any other occasion too! xo
ReplyDeleteA great idea! Love Joanne's comment, and Vee's response.
ReplyDeleteTo Vee's comment, last year was our 45 anniversary and a friend gave us a lovely basket filled with goodies. It was so thoughtful and much appreciated. I love your ideas Cheryl--I'm sure your children will always remember your thoughtfulness. ♥
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely, sweet idea, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLove Joanne's comment too, and Vee!
ReplyDeleteWould you believe this is my signature gift for Newlyweds? I call them Honeymoon Baskets! They have always been well received by the couple!

I am also laughing at Joanne and Vee's comments:) I do think this is a great idea. After our wedding we were starving as we didn't have much chance to eat at the reception, only it was so late the only place open was a Domino's Pizza! A basket filled with snacks -- that would have been awesome.
