Does the Bible have anything to say about celebrations?
~We must observe a day (or not) with a clean conscience, and with a pure and thankful heart.
One person esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike. Let each be fully convinced in his own mind.
He who observes the day, observes it to the Lord; and he who does not observe the day, to the Lord he does not observe it. He who eats, eats to the Lord, for he gives God thanks; and he who does not eat, to the Lord he does not eat, and gives God thanks.
Romans 14:5, 6

So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ.
Colossians 2:16, 17

~ When the heart is not pure, even celebrations that God Himself appointed are unacceptable to Him.
Your new moons and your appointed feasts My soul hates; they are a trouble to Me, I am weary of bearing them.
When you spread out your hands, I will hide My eyes from you; even though you make many prayers, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood.
Isaiah 1:14, 15

ReplyDeleteExcellent!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a good series and making me think deeper about celebrating, and the meanings behind it.

Amen!! xo
ReplyDeleteJust so...
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of all the times I cleaned the church's restrooms. They were in sore need. I was thanked many times, yet I well knew that my heart was not right so there'll be no gold in my crown for that service.
