I'll let you eavesdrop on the conversations that I have with myself.
When I first plan a party:
"Oh, this is going to be such fun!!"
When I send out my invitations:
"Oh, this is going to be such fun!!"
The few days before the party:
"What was I thinking?! How am I going to get everything done? I need to clean! And my family still wants dinner every night and there's laundry to do. And I have to take Bekah to PE and choir and get ready for our Keepers at Home club. How am I going to get everything done?!"
The day of the party:
"Oh, this is going to be such fun!!"
At the party:
"Oh my goodness, this is fun!!"
Because hosting is always worth it!
Love this post! I've got to get the house cleaned for our first small group meeting on Thursday night. Love that table spread...
ReplyDeleteyou are my inspiration for hosting. now that i am blogging, i think of things i want to expressing and hosting is one. i have it half drafted in my mind and you are part of it as my reason to host. you may do it nicer than me (everytime) but i have learned from you it doesn't have to be perfect and your house can be small but it's ok- host anyways.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your thoughts about entertaining, Cheryl. The ups and downs and then the fun in the end. So worth it! Your table looks divine. I'm sure your guests loved all of your efforts. ♥
ReplyDeleteYES!!!!
ReplyDeleteI have the same conversations! I'm starting to have them with myself over the wedding reception I'm doing!
Great conversation. And it always works out right, We know the house and food does not have to be perfect. It's that you are sharing with others in your home and they feel special to be invited. And your parties always look way above average!
ReplyDeleteIs this true or what? lol Have some of those very same conversations. Your gatherings always LOOK soo wonderful, and imagine they are too. Enjoy the rest of your week!
ReplyDeleteYou are very good at giving yourself a pep talk. I am glad because we all get to enjoy your gatherings. Your tables always look so inviting. (You would not believe the pep talk I'd have to give myself.)
ReplyDeleteDon't let me interrupt your conversation with yourself. . . but I always love hearing about your get-togethers and seeing the photos. I am always curious as to the complete menu you serve.. I have said I like to have company so my house gets a good cleaning! Blessings, Sharon D.
ReplyDeleteHaha I love this!! I wonder how many of us go through that same routine every time we entertain. 😃😃
ReplyDeleteFunny, but I have that exact same conversation with myself when we plan a vacation too!
ReplyDeleteSometimes, with a party, I escape for a minute and go outside and look back at our home, with the light streaming from each window and the happy faces of our friends chatting in every room, and think, "Ahhh, yes. Worth it! So worth it!"
I have had similar conversations with myself. :) Your table of food looks so inviting, and I'm sure your guests were thinking the very same thing...so fun!
ReplyDeleteLove this! You give yourself some great pep talks - I'm afraid that mine aren't always too good when the day is upon me. I certainly understand the "what was I thinking" muse! Don't know why I always get so stressed because it always turns out to be so much fun indeed.
ReplyDeletenodding my head in agreement!
ReplyDeletecurrently i'm in the "oh such fun" stage in planning
an annual vintage trailer gathering. a week before
the event i'll have a meltdown but once that's done
it's back to smooth. haha
Cheryl, you really nailed it! I'll start something when I'm feeling energetic, then when the energy goes I start with the "What was I thinking?!" :D Then it all works out!
ReplyDeleteWell Cheryl, you DO seem to be the hostess with the mostest! Your tableful of yummy things look amazing! It is always a joy being "invited" into your home for a party :)
ReplyDeleteYour conversation makes me smile. I can relate to the progression of bright thought - influenced afterwards by fatigue or the unexpected - even with planning and lists - and then the happy day.
