Since early February
tulips have adorned my kitchen island.
Sometimes they stand tall . . .
. . . sometimes they flop carelessly.
Tulips are my favorite!

It seems that my love for tulips goes way back. :)
During late winter and early spring, I crave the color and cheer that fresh flowers bring.

During late winter and early spring, I crave the color and cheer that fresh flowers bring.
A granddaughter plopped Bongo by the tulips to wait for her. |
As I grocery shop each week, I hear another bunch call my name from the table of cut flowers.
(I wonder why it's always the tulips that call the loudest?)
I think that five dollars is a small price to pay for spring beauty on the island.
Don't you?
Do cut flowers ever call your name when you're shopping for groceries?
I love flowers! I agree that $5 is totally worth the beauty and delight that fresh flowers bring! Your tulips look perfectly at home on your kitchen island!
ReplyDeleteWhen we were at Trader Joe's in February, we brought home a bunch for $1.50!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I just cut irises which are a favorite of mine, too.
ReplyDeleteoh YES YES YES I always hear my name! Love fresh flowers and seldom do I pass them up, lol, and it makes it easy what to give this gal too. Your tulips are beautiful. The picture of you as a little girl is just the CUTEST thing. My goodness you were just adorable! Enjoy your week-end!
ReplyDeleteYes! They frequently call my name :) I usually have to stop, chat, and leave them behind....
ReplyDeleteI was GOING to say I especially like the photo of the white ones here, but then I just couldn't single them out. ALL so beautiful. And the 1963 photo of you is PRECIOUS ♥
I love tulips too and have a few opening in the garden, pink ones, my favourite.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are beautiful and aren't tulips just the most elegant of flowers. That photo of you as a little girl is adorable . . . what a little sweetie pie. Yes, cut flowers do call my name, but from April to October I have plenty growing in my yard to cut and bring in. I love that too. One of my favorite summer cut flowers is the Zinnia, they bring so much cheer with their vibrant colors.

🌷Yessum, I surely do. If tulips were an offering here, believe me, they'd be coming home for $5, too. Yours are beautiful and lovingly photohraphed. I don't think Bongo remembers how he landed in the bowl. He looks perplexed. 🐒
ReplyDeletephotohraphed, photographed, you know what I mean...☺️
DeleteLovely tulips and photos. It was a pleasant interlude to come and visit. Wishing you a beautiful weekend, Cheryl.
ReplyDeletePS. Love your header with the sweet lamb.
ReplyDeleteCheryl, what a cute photo of you watering the tulips! I love having fresh flowers, particularly when nothing is blooming outdoors. Your tulips sure do look pretty on your island. Five dollars is certainly worth the joy it brings to your home. ♥
ReplyDeleteYes, that is a small price to pay for beauty that makes you smile. I do love tulips. We bought some pink ones to bring to the new mom in the family. We were so surprised to learn that cut tulips will continue growing a few years ago. Have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteI love the photo of you as a child watering those tulips!
ReplyDeleteI would put that on the side of my blog if I were you. (Hey, this is my first visit to you and I am already bossing you around. LOL!)
Your tulips are beautifully photographed. Strange that this year I haven't had tulips--I guess other things are on our mind. But $5 for fresh flowers is money well spent!
ReplyDeleteYes to tulips calling out when I go to the grocery store. They are the quintessential heralds of spring for me. Sweet photo from 1963!
ReplyDeleteI think I just may treat myself to Tulips today, thanks to your beautiful post.
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing like fresh flower to bring cheer to a bleak springtime like we're getting here. I need to get them more often! Yours look so pretty, encouraging, and sweet. Speaking of SWEET, that photo of you as a little gardener! I could have been your babysitter, for Pete's sake! (age, speaking of). Have a wonderful week ahead, Cheryl. God bless.
ReplyDeleteTulips are my favorite too! I actually prefer them to be a bit floppy, it really gives them character, but I recently learned how to make them stay more erect. You may know this already, but cut them under water, then keep them tied and place them immediately into a vase of water overnight so the stems are straight when they get that first drink of water. In the morning, cut the string while still holding the end of stems underwater. They should stand pretty straight after that. Right now, tulips at Market Basket are $3.99. Well worth the small expense every week.
