Sunday Snapshots: Eighty and Nine!

This weekend we celebrated the October birthdays: our grandson Ben who recently turned 9, and my dad who is now 80!

I don't have time for a lot of words this morning, so I think I'll let the pictures tell the tale . . .

Thanks to my sister Linda for this photo!

Notice Ben's face as his "9" candle toppled in the middle of the birthday song! ๐Ÿ˜

After gifts were opened, we had a mini concert! Kati recorded some excerpts and I am hoping to share a few in a separate blog post once she has some time to upload them to her YouTube channel.

It was a good day for celebrating those we love!

    1. The party horns were a real hit!! We had the kids blow them when my dad arrived. They were more than happy to comply. ;)

  2. Ben’s expression... ๐ŸŽˆThat was merely the one to grow on! Lots of fun photos from Ryan holding the teddy bear to your dancing grandgirlie. What a wonderful family!

    1. Thanks, Melissa! The soup was my dad's request. It was almost too hot for soup, but you gotta make the birthday boy happy! :)

  4. In times like these it is so refreshing to see what God intended for our family's lives to be like. You truly have a lovely family, love is all around, families like yours do not come easy, like a marriage, it takes time and lots of love and respect. You and Ron have made a great investment, and I might add both of your parents before you.
Happy Birthday to your Dad and Ben, as I saw them standing side by side, I thought what a legacy!
    Have a blessed week,
    Blessings,
    Sue

  5. No words needed here! Your photos pretty much say it all...looks like a wonderful celebration! Did I happen to see spinach dip?? And was that carrot cake?? YUM!

    1. Yes, spinach dip brought by my daughter-in-law who makes wonderful appetizers! And yes to the carrot cake too, Daddy's favorite. I'd like to take credit for making it, but I have made a couple of carrot cakes in the past and they were horrible. A store-bought cake is a much better choice in this case!

    1. You got that right, Lorrie! I gave the children their noise makers to blow when my dad arrived at the party. They happily complied with my request! And before. And after. :)

Can you believe it? I collected the party horns at the end of the day (so the parents would not harbor hard feelings towards Gran) and promised to return them on their next visit. They will be toys for Gran's house. :)

  8. Oh no, a candle topple. How fabulous to have captured that look. Looks like a wonderful celebration of the 80 year old and the 9 year old. Love the way you marked the glasses. Fun idea. Love the creativity shown here and that little one that looks like she's dancing is a joy to see!

    1. Thank you, Ellen! I didn't know I had captured that look until I was downloading my pics later that evening. I love it! Yes, Macie was dancing and sooooo cute! (Spoken like a grandmother, huh?) :)

  9. Looks like a fun double birthday party. Were they going to color the napkins? And two cakes! That's love! And a mini concert seems the "icing" on the cake. What wonderful memories your grands will have of these Sunday gatherings (and birthday celebrations.)

  10. The crayons were for the small activity books that were party favors.

There was a carrot cake for my dad. (I did not make it. The carrot cakes in my history have both been disasters!) I made the chocolate one for the non-carrot cake eaters. (And nearly had a disaster with that one and I've never had trouble with that recipe before!)

Making memories is what I love!
