Lately . . .

Quiet and cozy is how I like my January.

We've had some of that.

And we've also had a visit to my sister's new home in a new town, a fun book club meeting, and a winter birthday party!

Bekah's January became less "quiet" this week when she started college. At least she has company while she studies. 🐈

(Is he keeping her company or enjoying the sun? Both?)

How do like your January?

  1. It was fun to 'I spy' your sisters new home. Looks like she has great taste in furnishings, too. We like our January to be celebrated well since we have some very special birthday folk to celebrate. Great photo of Bekah and her 'helper'. Happy end of January to you!

  3. Yes, I agree with Ellen, your watercolor is really nice. I thought you were a beginner! Your quiet peaceful January home is lovely. And your sister's new home looks great. Peaceful January days appeal to me as well along with all the other months of the year. Stay cozy during this next round of snow.

    1. Thanks so much, Martha Ellen! I am a beginner though. I have only done a handful of watercolor sketches when we were doing nature notebooks in homeschool, but it's fun to pick up the brushes and try it again. Linda is amazing! Can you believe she has only lived in her new place since the beginning of December?

You know, I think you're right! Peaceful days are welcome year 'round!

  4. Over. So I am quite happy there are so few days left. Alas, tomorrow brings stormy weather, but that's life. How good that your sister has a new home in a nearby town. That's the best part of a new home. Hope that Bekah enjoys her studies.

    1. "Over" indeed! 😂 I know many who feel the same way! I don't mind the cold as much as the snow and we're about to have the third snowy weekend in a row. That doesn't sound so bad to a New Englander, does it?

Linda's new place is actually a slight bit further away, but it's still a very doable visit.

It's hard to make a judgement after one week, but I think Bekah is going to enjoy much of it!

  5. your home is so beautiful..consistently.
and your sister's home as well. you both
stood in line twice for the decorating gift. :)
love your art - cilantro in a bitty pitcher.
we have a tremendous amount of snow. still.
along with a few inches of ice just below.
4.5 feet packed down tight - we can walk over
the snow as it's so hard packed. oh--but wearing
our boot trax is required. not a fan of slipping
    and falling at my age.
    blessings this day..

    1. Thanks so much, Sherry! The funny thing is Linda and I are fans of one another. I think she is amazing . . . she has decorated in many different styles over the years and she nails every one. She has an eye for a bargain too!

Your snow sounds treacherous with that ice underneath. (Makes me ashamed that I have complained about the foot that we got last night and this morning.) Please be careful, friend! Blessings back to you . . .

  7. I love your watercolour. I love that picture of the kitty peering out the window. And that birthday cake looks scrumptious! Beautiful photos of family and home.

    1. Thank you kindly, Brenda! The cake is a Jello poke cake. My mom has made one for my sister's birthday for many years, and I have recently taken that job. I know it's not "light," but somehow it tastes light and refreshing.

Hope you are doing well on this final day of January!

  8. Taking some time for me this morning Cheryl, trying to catch up with friends! Oh how I enjoyed my visit with you, especially your Christmas post, I smiled all the way through, it was such a joy seeing how your family is flourishing with love, makes my heart sing.
Good luck with the remodeling project, I look forward to seeing the outcome, we are undertaking a few projects here at the farm, but they will be outside for now, our chicken's abode is in need of a complete overhaul. ~smile~
Best wishes to Bekah as she embarks on this new journey! Your watercolor is beautiful!
I like my January quiet, warm and cozy! This is the time of the year, I do a lot of reflecting, and planning!
Thank you for visiting and for your sweet comments!

    1. Sue, I always enjoy a visit with you, and often wish we could just sit down and have an in-person chat! (Wouldn't that be great?) Thanks for your kind and encouraging words! I always feel like you are on my team, like you are cheering me and my family on!

As I type that, I am thinking . . . isn't that what a fellow pilgrim does? We spur one another on towards the finish line?

And let us consider one another to provoke [stir up] unto love and to good works. (Hebrews 10:24)

      Thank you, Sue!
