Hast Thou No Scar?
by Amy CarmichaelHast thou no scar?
No hidden scar on foot, or side or hand?
I hear thee sung as mighty in the land,
I hear them hail thy bright ascendent star.
Hast thou no scar?
Hast thou no wound?
Yet I was wounded by the archers, spent,
Leaned me against a tree to die; and rent
By ravening beasts that compassed me, I swooned;
Hast thou no wound?
No wound? No scar?
Yet, as the master shall the servant be
And pierced are the feet that follow Me;
But thine are whole: can he have followed far
Who has nor wound nor scar?
Cheryl, if I was forced to choose ONE Amy Carmichael poem to call a favorite (and wouldn't that be torture, to have to make such a choice?) ... this one would be it! I can't tell you how many times these words have come to my mind. We could never get to the depths of them, could we? Thanks so much for sharing them so that others who may never have seen them might have the chance to feel their power. --- Love to you --- Frances
