{31 Days to Make a House a Home} Day 14 ~ Set a Pretty Table

Setting a pretty table is a joy!

Holiday and party tables are easy to make festive.

We usually go the extra mile to set a table for company.

But even weeknight suppers can look pretty if you take just a little bit of care.

Setting a  pretty table doesn't mean that you have to use fine china and the heirloom silver every night.  Just try to make your table look inviting to your own family.

 (Even breakfast can be pretty!)

To end this week's theme of thoughts about mealtime, I am linking up with Kristin's Comfort Food Friday.  This recipe is a family favorite, and is a breeze to make!

SAUSAGE BEAN CHOWDER

Ingredients:

1 pound bulk pork sausage
16-oz. can dark red kidney beans, drained
16-oz. can black beans, drained
1-lb. can diced tomatoes
4 cups water
1 large onion, chopped
2 cloves of garlic, pressed
2 bay leaves
1½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon thyme
fresh ground pepper to taste
2 cups potatoes, peeled and cubed

Directions:
  1. Cook sausage until brown.  Pour off fat.
  2. In large pot, combine beans, tomatoes, water, onion, garlic, bay leaves, and all spices.  Cover and simmer for one hour.
  3. Add potatoes.  Cook, covered, for 15 minutes more.
  4. Remove bay leaf and serve.

  1. You ARE good. Those are some beautiful tables.

And as much as I want to make that soup, I don't think I can. When I served it I would just be thinking about that gorgeous pewter tureen on your table. I would recognize the sin of covetousness in my heart and would forever link the soup with the sin! Wouldn't that be just terrible?

    Enjoy your day Cheryl. :)

    Blessings, Debbie
