I agree -- Schaeffer is saying that making a home, making it well, has eternal ramifications. It is an eternal activity. It's interesting to think that homemaking can be done WELL. That means it can also be done poorly. So many women these days balk at the idea that anyone could assess how someone keeps a home, that there is a bad way to do it. I'm wondering what Schaeffer would say. This book really gives us things to ponder about!M.K.https://www.blogger.com/profile/09205619221345704689noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6596988245744679027.post-23764781626071402432013-04-27T19:51:49.168-04:002013-04-27T19:51:49.168-04:00"When I make a home, I feel His pleasure.&quo..."When I make a home, I feel His pleasure."

I like that turn of phrase! :-)
Lindahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15935434757784738871noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6596988245744679027.post-38480715089435286122013-04-27T08:57:26.578-04:002013-04-27T08:57:26.578-04:00I read this years ago, maybe I should pull it out ...I read this years ago, maybe I should pull it out and read it again. I totally agree with your last sentence. Interesting that my friend called me just last night to tell me all about Edith's memorial service that she went to on Thursday. It was filled with music, not surprising! My friend spent a good deal of time at L'Abri when she was young.podsohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14880888514207597761noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6596988245744679027.post-59664097548849350542013-04-27T00:02:10.842-04:002013-04-27T00:02:10.842-04:00Cheryl,

This was before I understood about Proverbs 31. I am going to visit those links, thanks so much for sharing. xoBarbara F.https://www.blogger.com/profile/05650730931602700042noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6596988245744679027.post-48075858971610344202013-04-26T10:09:13.749-04:002013-04-26T10:09:13.749-04:00Now why did I say all that stuff? It's unlikely that I'd join in the discussion either; however, since Hidden Art...sits right in my stack of books to be perused often (I can see it right here now...it is on the bottom of the stack, though. I'm displaying it for the yellow color of the cover because yellow is my favorite color and I use it so seldom...my, I do prattle on...) I'd love to see what others are saying.

I have a dear pastor who preaches in direct opposition to this concept and often so my head gets a lot muddled about it. Like you, my greatest joy is creating a sense of haven for me and John and anyone who shows up. Still, there are many limitations to my haven...many...and it is not ideal for hospitality. Guests have nowhere to sit comfortably, nowhere to find a place at the small table, the bathroom is a disgrace, and on and on it goes. Sigh. I'm like the farmer's wife who becomes disgruntled with what she has until the farmer moves in the chicken, the goat, the sheep, the cow...

Thanks for the link.
