You homemakers all know how one thing leads to another, right? And how making changes in one room leads to changes in other rooms? And sometimes you just get on a roll and change something up just because? (Even if it had nothing at all to do with changes anywhere else?)
Well, that's me right now. In the midst of changing and tweaking and sprucing things up and considering this and that and the other. And one day, I looked through the living room window at the sun porch and thought, I wonder how it would look to switch the table area and the seating area.
This ↓ is how it was arranged before, with the table as the focus, but the seating area felt a little tight.
With the new arrangement, the seating area feels spacious and inviting. But the table is further from the door and from the pass-through window. It's fine for the four of us, but we'll see how it flows when we have a larger group. It won't be as easy to extend the table (with a folding table) for more seating, although we could just set up the folding table separately, maybe even using the wicker chairs at the table. We'll see.
Then, of course, when you rearrange, you see things with new eyes. And my eyes began to see a few nautical touches for the summer porch.
Now my eyes are seeing an outdoor rug to define the seating area. I wonder . . .
Well, aren't you blessed to have that sun porch?!? I REALLY like your new arrangement. I can see it may not be as convenient for large groups but you can easily adapt it for those occasions.....
ReplyDeleteWe do love our sun porch! I have to confess though . . . I enjoy it a lot more in the spring and fall!
DeleteCheryl, I know just what you mean! I really like the changes you have made for a more cozy seating area. A rug would really be lovely as well. Your nautical touches are perfect for your lovely sun porch. Your new header is just beautiful! The blue and white is perfect for the summer. It gives a refreshing peaceful treat to the eyes. ♥
ReplyDeleteThanks, Martha Ellen! I love blue and white for summer too! :)
DeleteHow lovely! Noticed the new header immediately, pretty. I saw that you commented on Moments with Mother Culture so of course you saw her new fabric pieces...I thought of you and how they would fit in your home!! Thank you for sharing, now I'm off to find some blue and white fabric for my dining room table!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Melissa! Yes, those are wonderful fabrics! (I did a google search too. :)
DeleteHave fun with your table! It's fun to change things up a bit!
I like it! I'm always moving and tweaking things!
ReplyDeleteI think the nautical touches are great!
I know you're a mover and a tweaker, Deanna! :)
DeleteWe still have room to move here. The Farmhouse rooms were smaller (and full) and there were not lots of choices for room arrangement. It is kind of fun to be able to change things up again.
I really like changes and being able to rearrange a room is like having a whole new space. I really like the touches of the sea as well...this porch is such a great space!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Debby! You have been making changes at your place, so you know how fresh and new it feels!
DeleteI like how you think... Area rug...along the price of last week's featured one. What a lovely wide space you have on your sun porch. Most homes just don't have that width on the porch. It looks great!
ReplyDeletePrice is key! No "investment" rugs for an indoor/outdoor space!
DeleteWe are blessed with space where it counts in this house. All of the main living areas are spacious (which is what we need for gathering with family). The bedrooms are small, and that's okay.
How lovely to have such a large sun porch. I wonder if you might turn your table longwise to the window occasionally to give you more room to pass by?
ReplyDeleteThanks for your suggestion! It does seem like a good idea, but the photo angle is deceiving. There really isn't enough room to turn it the other way.
DeleteWhat a beautiful sun room! And I do like the new arrangement and think that a rug would be a great idea in that sitting area. Everything looks so inviting, Cheryl!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Judy! Stay tuned . . . :)
DeleteHa ha! Yep I know the feeling moving things around and seeing things to enhance the new space. I love your sun porch. It makes so much sense for a house to have one of these. This is not the norm for areas we've lived in. Hope the rest of your week is peachy!
ReplyDeleteSo you're a mover and a shaker too! ;)
DeleteThe sun porch really does extend the living area, especially when the weather is temperate.
IT's amazing what a lift a small change can bring. And such changes can always be unchanged since there was no price to it! I do like how it looks and a rug would be nice but not necessary. Be sure to let us see if you do--it will add a cozy factor. I like your new header and your sea accents. Looking very homey!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Dotsie! "Free" changes are great. Of course, if you buy a new rug to accommodate the changes . . .
