Every August, we three celebrate our birthdays together with one "triple birthday" party.
(I can't even remember when we started this tradition, but here are some of our past parties: 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015)
2016 |
But this year, the party grew...
and even though Ron had already had a BIG party
and even though Owen had celebrated his 10th birthday with a party at his house the day before,
we had decided that this year we'd celebrate ALL of the August birthdays together!
So this year, these three gents joined the three ladies and we partied!
Because it fell right on the heels of Ron's party, and it was the day after Owen's party, and August is a busy month around here, we kept this one simple. (Sometimes, simple is best, don't you think?) Ron grilled hamburgers and hot dogs and we had some easy sides.
I used some napkins that I have had in my stash (yes, I have a napkin stash) for several years. I love them, but hadn't had just the right occasion to use them. They are a design of folk artist Jane Wooster Scott and they are very summery and fun.
The details don't show up well in this fuzzy photo, but you can get a better look here at Wooster Scott's site. |
Of course, we had plenty of desserts. Nora (7) made brownies and I made a cheesecake per Ryan's request. And then there was the birthday cake. It was not simple. Mom made it and it was a show stopper!
It was a grand time!
Birthday x 6!
* Thanks to Kati for many of the photos!!
Fabulous X Six!!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, dear Cheryl! I love the beautiful celebrations in your home. Your Mom's colorful cake and the candles was a clever touch! How does one blow out one candle without blowing out the others? I love the sweet napkins and especially all of the sweet faces. ♥
ReplyDeleteYou are all so cute! Your Mom's cake is wonderful! How fun!
ReplyDeleteThat Pineapple House should be called "The Party House!"
Love to you all!
What FUN! You always have wonderful family gatherings.
ReplyDeleteWhat good company I am with, having an August birthday. Mine was way, way low key, not even a cake! But I had a wonderful day last Sunday. Happy Birthday to all!
ReplyDeleteYou win the gold for August birthday parties! Isn't it great to have another photographer in the family who doesn't shirk her duties. It's hard to host things and photo things at the same time I find. That layered cake is fun! Blessings on all of you August birthday boys and girls!
ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely lot of birthdays to celebrate! Was one of his children climbing on the furniture or something? (Ryan looks so stern in the 5th photo.)
ReplyDeleteThe cake looks amazing...the cheesecake looks like I want a piece right now. Is that recipe somewhere on this blog?
Happy Birthday! It's good to know I'm not the only one with a paper napkin stash! ;-)
ReplyDeleteHow fun! As our family and expanded in-law families grow, we try to have shared birthday events too. Not easy to do when your kids live out of state. We have to play catch up when they are home. Loving your new home and the way you've adorned it.
ReplyDeleteWell, you guys are quite the partying bunch, aren't you? Why not celebrate all together?? Makes sense to me! Wowsers...that is SOME cake too! Happy birthday, one and all...great family pics!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great cake! And I KNEW you had a napkin stash. My sister does too!
ReplyDeleteA lovely celebration for a sweet group
ReplyDeleteof August birthdays! Yummy food and awesome desserts too. Love the photos taking their puff at the birthday candles. Adorable. As I've mentioned before we are a family of August birthdays too but now September is catching up. Daughter Jamie is having a BBQ on Labor Day to celebrate the five September birthdays.
