Continuing my little house tour...
I have fun decorating the dining room for Christmas! It wears red and green year round, so it's easy to spruce it up a bit (no pun intended) and make it festive. Again, simplicity and natural elements (whether faux or real) are key to our colonial farmhouse style.
Welcome to our farmhouse dining room!
Ron made this sideboard from a pattern that was featured in Country Living magazine in the 1980's.
I added some of my cedar to a bowl of Clementines and to the pewter tea service, a bicentennial reproduction from 1976. The Williamsburg berry ball is a new addition.
I always make a Della Robbia arrangement on my dining room mantle.
This year's is smaller. I used less fruit, but added dried yarrow to coordinate with the yarrow used throughout the dining room.

The corner cupboard was also made from a Country Living pattern.
Ron's tree wears its usual adornments: yarrow from our herb garden and some strands of raffia.
This will be our last stop on this year's holiday tour! Thanks for joining us...and for all of your kind words you have left in the comments! I wish I could sit and share a cup of coffee or tea with each one of you...what fun we would have!

I enjoyed your tour so much. And I love all your pewter. I also appreciated the story of Ron's tree and the window view! Have a wonderful celebration of the Christ child!
ReplyDeleteLove every bit of it. Pewter always catches my eye. The sideboard that Ron made is perfect! Love that style.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful, Cheryl...I love the feeling of warmth and comfort these decorations convey. Ron's tree and the post it came from is precious. We had a set of pewter dishes that we received as a wedding gift and I never really used it. I guess decor style changed over the years and gave it to someone...I actually don't even remember. All I know is I could just kick myself :(
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful, dear Cheryl. I love the story behind Ron's tree--so touching. Looking from the outside in has always been a favorite of mine. Your pieces of furniture made by your husband are beautiful. What a talented man! I feel like I've been inside of one of the homes in Colonial Williamburg.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you and your family! ♥
I LOVED your tour...I had missed the kitchen one so went back and saw it too. Everything about it all just screams warm, homey, Christmas, family and love. Truly it's just perfect. What a talented furniture maker too btw your hubby is! If I don't get another chance, wishing you and your wonderful family a very blessed and merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteOnce more I've been soothed by the sights of your home this Christmas. My His peace & joy continue to meet all who move from room to room. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tour! Lovely!!
ReplyDeleteIt all looks lovely. In fact you have given me one or two ideas for decorating!
ReplyDeleteEverything is so beautiful here. I'll help you wrap gifts for a cup of coffee and a chat and a chance to sit at your table and gawk. Merry Christmas, Dear Ones!
