As the name of my blog indicates, I spend a lot of time thinking about home. Of course, my Heavenly Home is the one that is eternal, so that’s where I need to lay up my treasures, and that’s the one I’m striving for. But in the meantime, I have been given this tiny piece of the here-and-now—this home on the edge of town, this family, this neighborhood—in which to serve Him. And, though this is in the earthly realm, I want the things that happen here to be investments in the Heavenly realm.

Today
So often, I want to see a clear path laid out before me. I want to know what I am supposed to do next week, next month, next year. I like order and I like safety and I like to plan.
And yet . . . is not this journey to Heaven a walk of faith?
Today, I need to seek His face.
Today, I need to accept His plan for me.
Today, I need to choose to obey.
Today, I need to live fully.
Today, I need to take the next step.
Today, I need to trust Him for the future.

ReplyDeleteadding to my quote list and
hugging it to my heart. ♥
Oh, I'm glad it speaks to you too, Sherry! I love being reminded of these truths from time to time. I am so prone to forget . . .
DeleteAs we are getting close to my hubby’s retirement and are into our “senior years”, I need reminders like this often. Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteNew opportunities to trust! I need these reminders too. Speaking from the heart today. (Thanks for stopping by!)
DeleteGreat quote! Oh, if only I could learn to leave the future alone! Like you, I find myself wondering and worrying about so many things...especially with this move to TN coming up. Thank you for posting this beautiful reminder today.
ReplyDeleteAs I just said to Linda (above), new opportunities to trust! I think we'll be learning all the way to Heaven! (It is just so natural to want to know!)
DeleteOur dear Elizabeth! Still blessing and encouraging us! We all need to be reminded of this truth, daily.
ReplyDeleteThanks sweet sister, for sharing it with us.
Deanna, your thoughtful blog post last week
Delete(this one: http://mrsrabe.blogspot.com/2018/01/what-winter-looks-like-outside-cottage.html)
caused me to remember this quote and I have been pondering it since then. So thank you!
I still miss Elisabeth! She had such insight, and such straightforward teaching. Thankfully, as you said, her words live on!
Amen and amen...
ReplyDeleteYou're living it, Vee!
DeleteYes! I thought it might get easier as I get older, but here I am. Still learning. ♥

ReplyDeleteDay by day by day. Thank you, Lorraine!
DeleteAmen and thank you for this reminder. The unknown haunted me this week. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, Ellen, it is so "natural" for us to want to know. This walk of faith is supernatural!
DeleteDear Cheryl, this is so timely for me, thank you for sharing this reminder. I so enjoy anything written by Elizabeth Elliot, as your thoughts too!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sue
Sue, I am glad it was a timely reminder for you! Thank you for your kind (and very humbling) words!
DeleteI am back to say "thank you' for the soup recipe, I will bookmark it as we enjoy soup around here! And yes, I do have a tendency to wear my family out on a recipe!~smile~
ReplyDeleteI also enjoyed your post about the sleepover, thinking as I was observing how much the grands are growing, and of all the memories being made. You all are so blessed to live so near one another. We will soon be saying 'goodby' to our last as she is moving a far piece away!
Always a joy to stop by for a visit.
Blessings,
Sue
We are indeed blessed to be near one another! There were many years that some of my grands lived far away, so I am always conscious of the fact that this time together is a gift! It must be so hard to think of saying good-bye to your last near one! Praying for you!
DeleteWise words...both yours and the late Elizabeth Elliot's. I always enjoyed her writing. And your's too. Wonderful post!
ReplyDeleteCheryl, is is extremely humbling to have my name and Elisabeth's mentioned in the same sentence . . . but I thank you for your kind words! I think so many are encouraged by this post because it is where we live. It is a daily choice to accept today and trust Him with the future, and it is not always an easy choice to make!
DeleteA good word. The next step is all we need in our faith walk ... And He goes before.
ReplyDeleteAmen!
