As the name of my blog indicates, I spend a lot of time thinking about home. Of course, my Heavenly Home is the one that is eternal, so that’s where I need to lay up my treasures, and that’s the one I’m striving for. But in the meantime, I have been given this tiny piece of the here-and-now—this home on the edge of town, this family, this neighborhood—in which to serve Him. And, though this is in the earthly realm, I want the things that happen here to be investments in the Heavenly realm.

"The Church's One Foundation" {and then a bit of a blogging break}

Something for your Sunday . . .

The music is gorgeous . . . but the words elevate the music to something much deeper and soul-filling!

I.  The church's one foundation
Is Jesus Christ her Lord;
She is his new creation
By water and the Word.
From heaven he came and sought her
To be his holy bride;
With his own blood he bought her,
And for her life he died.
II.  Elect from every nation,
Yet one o'er all the earth;
Her charter of salvation,
One Lord, one faith, one birth;
One holy name she blesses,
Partakes one holy food,
And to one hope she presses,
With every grace endued.
III.  Mid toil and tribulation,
And tumult of her war,
She waits the consummation
Of peace forevermore;
Till, with the vision glorious,
Her longing eyes are blest,
And the great church victorious
Shall be the church at rest.
IV.  Yet she on earth hath union
With God the Three in One,
And mystic sweet communion
With those whose rest is won.
O happy ones and holy!
Lord, give us grace that we
Like them, the meek and lowly,
On high may dwell with thee.

And now I'm going to step away from the blog for a few weeks. Summer is always busy . . . but this one is . . . WHEW!

  1. Enjoy your time away. Wait. It doesn't sound like "enjoy" is the proper word. Hurry back!

  2. What a lovely piece. So nice that some churches still have these kinds of opportunities for others to share in the worship service. Our "new to us" church still allows this to happen also.
    I know you'll enjoy time with family and summer activities!

  7. Oh, I would have loved to have heard that in person. That is beautiful. And Bekah's sweet smile at the end made me smile. Don't forget to take care of yourself during this busy time. We'll be here when you return. :)
