Even so, there are things that I love about summer. Here are some (in random order):
- Iced coffee
- The rotation of blooming things...day lilies, yarrow, 4 o'clocks
- Respite from the school schedule
- Planning for the next school year...I love to plan!
- Berries...strawberries, blueberries, raspberries...pies, muffins, cobbler...
- Organizing...closets, drawers, cabinets, even the laundry room
- The beach...I am awed by the ocean; it speaks of the Creator.
- Slow, quiet mornings
- Fresh vegetables...especially in this dish
- Lots of daylight hours
- Buying bargain school supplies in July
- A 1000-piece puzzle on the dining room table
- Reading Little Women with the girls
- Birthdays
- Birthdays
What are your summer pleasures?
P.S. The fact that #14 and #15 both say birthdays is not a typo. There are LOTS of summer birthdays in our family...my husband, one daughter, my son, two granddaughters, one grandson, my mother, my father-in-law, my niece, me...not to mention numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends...and three anniversaries!
I just LOVE reading your blog and seeing your beautiful pics. In the very first paragraph, I love those periods after individual words. Such emphasis. And it's fun to read about the things that you enjoy about summer. I guess the main thing I love about summer is flowers. And watching the birds come to my feeders and splash in the bird baths. And watermelon. And strawberries. And blueberries. And central air after being outside on a hot day. Hugs to you .... Frances
ReplyDeleteI'm going to try that recipe. Sounds delicious!
ReplyDeleteI hate to break the tradition of the August birthday party. And the beach trip. And the back to school trip. We need to make some plans. :)

I totally agree with the "not's" of summer! Heat and Humidity. But I have learned to enjoy quiet evenings outside with my kids, Iced coffee is a big plus here too! Strange but I too love to organize in the summer months. I love school supplies..."I would buy you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils"...to quote one of my favorite movies!(and yours)
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed summer

Ditto on all those things... especially the back-to-school sales! And add in the State Fair and coming home covered in dust, smelling like we spent a little too much time admiring the goats and horses, and sticky from cotton candy.
