As the name of my blog indicates, I spend a lot of time thinking about home. Of course, my Heavenly Home is the one that is eternal, so that’s where I need to lay up my treasures, and that’s the one I’m striving for. But in the meantime, I have been given this tiny piece of the here-and-now—this home on the edge of town, this family, this neighborhood—in which to serve Him. And, though this is in the earthly realm, I want the things that happen here to be investments in the Heavenly realm.

Peter and the Lobster

On one evening of our visit, Ryan and Sarah treated us to a mouth watering Maine feast...the most delicious clam chowder, steamed lobsters, rolls, and corn-on-the-cob, with blueberry shortcake for dessert!  Oh my!

When the guys brought the bag of lobsters home, each was in its own bag and individually wrapped in newspaper.  Kati's curiosity got the best of her, and she decided to unwrap one and take a peek.  As soon as she started, all of the children gathered around.

(All of the children's expressions are priceless, but you must be sure to note Peter as you look through this series of pictures!)

Peter is going...

...going...

...gone!

But wait...

...he's back for another peek!  :)

You eat that?

Need I tell you that Peter did NOT eat lobster?

Also overheard...
Nora (4):  I licked lobster one time, but I didn't care for it.

Good times in Maine!

  1. Adorable. I love how you recorded the moment and it speaks volumes. Poor Peter. He'll probably never even lick lobster now. :)

  4. Too funny! What expressions on all faces and especially Peter's. I'll be hauling John over to see this post for sure. He'll get such a kick out of it.

  5. So cute, Cheryl! I cooked whole lobsters just one time, never again. Too traumatic for me, including wondering if I should drive down to beach and throw them back in the ocean! Not kidding! I'll stick with the tails if I am cooking them. lol xo

  6. Hahaha, the expressions are priceless! And since he won't eat it - great! - all the more for the rest, LOL! We have laughed many times and wondered about the first person who decided to cook up a lobster and try it. Gosh, they must have been awfully hungry! I love the taste, but it does freak me out a bit when Mr. Jim picks up his cooked lobster and starts to make it dance on his plate and then talk to me in a psoedo-squeaky lobster voice. LOL....

  9. The meal sounds delicious! When we lived in Africa we'd take wriggling lobster and drop it in a pan of boiling water to cook --youngest son would have no part of eating it!

  10. How funny! My husband cooked lobster once. Let us just say, that is one dish we decided to leave to the restaurant chefs;)
