As the name of my blog indicates, I spend a lot of time thinking about home. Of course, my Heavenly Home is the one that is eternal, so that’s where I need to lay up my treasures, and that’s the one I’m striving for. But in the meantime, I have been given this tiny piece of the here-and-now—this home on the edge of town, this family, this neighborhood—in which to serve Him. And, though this is in the earthly realm, I want the things that happen here to be investments in the Heavenly realm.

Coming Up...

What's coming up?

Blooming things! The day lilies have started to bloom. The golden yarrow will soon be in bloom. The limelight hydrangea is full of unopened blossoms. June promises to be a beautiful month.

A new pole shed...for our firewood. The lean-to in which the wood is now stored will be closed in and Ron will move the lawn equipment there. The section of the barn where the lawn equipment is now will become overflow for Ron's shop. (Very much needed.) Did you follow all of that?

Ron was off this week and the work began. His brother came over with his tractor and the two of them set the poles. Yesterday, Ron's brother and our brother-in-law helped him put up the rafters. It was kind of like an Amish barn raising. (But at this one, there was no feast served by the women because one of the women was babysitting and the other two were at our homeschool Book Club finale.)

The end of our "formal" school year. We had hoped to be finished this week. It didn't happen. Too much activity! We should be finished next week. (We think.)

What's coming up on the blog?

  • Gathering the Moments of May

  • Sunday Snapshots

  • A tour of my sister's place...for those of you who like house-y things. Linda was just a smidge reluctant to let me show her humble abode, but I think that she is a decorator extraordinaire and I think you'll love it!

Sneak peek of the house tour...

What's coming up in your world?

  1. I knew you've been and would be busy! The joy of homeschooling is that no one minds if it is delayed as learning goes on every day. That's an interesting project Ron is working on there... Looking forward to the sneak peek at Linda's home. I love a blogger's life. =D A happy, if busy, weekend to you!

  2. We lived in two states while homeschooling and neither required keeping records or counting the official days (which helped with a severely ADHD child). But my daughter also lives in New England and has to keep count. They are also a little late getting everything done this year, partly because we were there for nearly a week. What? Doesn't Grammie and Granddad time count for learning? Hehehe...

  3. There's always something to learn each day when you homeschool, whether from books or not. Looks like there's been some learning going on there -- but I guess you have to get the books finished too. You guys are getting lots of projects done!

  4. We homeschooled year round and took extra time off during the holidays. Everyone does it different!
We are hoping to dry out from all the rain and flodding here in Texas! NO rain in forecast for the next 7 days! It has rained every single day for 2 weeks!
Continued prayers for you and your health!

  6. What fun to have someone with a tractor! I wonder how long it will take for our son to acquire one. Sounds like you are getting ready for a good summer! Blessings!

  7. Flowers, outside projects (for Ron!), and a shift in your daily routine... all signaling our *favorite* season! This blog post was very timely for me because I've been a little blah since Amelia's visit, feeling that I didn't really have any event to look forward to. But some stretches of time might not be meant for grand plans or exciting adventures. Quiet shifts, slowed paces, times of just noticing... they are a gift, too!

  8. I'm going to love that house tour! I can tell from the preview :)
Lots of rain here. Peonies so beautiful. A couple of unplanned stops at garage sales netting me a couple of very sweet & unnecessary & inexpensive pleasures. And did I mention rain?
