As the name of my blog indicates, I spend a lot of time thinking about home. Of course, my Heavenly Home is the one that is eternal, so that’s where I need to lay up my treasures, and that’s the one I’m striving for. But in the meantime, I have been given this tiny piece of the here-and-now—this home on the edge of town, this family, this neighborhood—in which to serve Him. And, though this is in the earthly realm, I want the things that happen here to be investments in the Heavenly realm.

Sunday Snapshots: A September Birthday

This little girl missed the August Birthday Train by one day. But she's okay with that. She gets to ride the September Birthday Train all by herself!

On Sunday, we celebrated Alaine's 7th birthday. Homemade banana ice cream was on the menu!

We had a special guest at our party: Lucy, our granddog, who was spending the weekend with us while her family was on a camping trip. We ❤ Lucy!

(Okay, maybe we don't all ❤ Lucy.)

We even had some Wrapping Paper Antics. Uncle Ryan would be proud!

I think this face is a sign of a successful party!

  5. The ice cream was definitely a hit with lots of dreamy expressions to prove it! Of all these excellent photos, my favorite is of your son-in-law looking at his son. It's quite wonderful...you (or someone) definitely captured a moment. Happy seventh birthday to Allaine🎈

  6. You have such a special gift of capturing these great expressions and moments with your camera, Cheryl. I have never had banana ice cream but it sure reminds me of my family sitting around eating Mom's vanilla...and remembering to eat it SLOW as to not get brain freeze! Lucky Alaine...not having to share her party!

  7. Alaine is a darling!! Bet she likes having the September birthday train to herself! Our grandson feels cheated that he has to share his with three others! Family celebrations are always such a precious time. Two grandsons are staying with us currently while their parents are on vacation. Seven and ten year olds have a lot of energy. And I laugh at my friend who has two grandchildren, both girls. They do parties and journals and girl things. My grandsons are into totally different kinds of things. Who says boys and girls are the same except for conditioning. Hahahaha. Love your family photos. They exude warm happy feelings.
