After we learned that Kristin and Brian's new baby is a boy, we started planning to have a little family shower. A baby is never "old hat!" Each baby is a new person, a new creation, a new delight. And so we celebrate!
Kati had the idea of using succulents to decorate for the shower. She created an invitation on PicMonkey and showed me.
I hemmed and hawed. (What? Succulents? For a baby shower? That doesn't seem very "baby." What about teddy bears or puppy dogs or baby blue? Something old school.)

Then Kristin gave me a lovely dish garden of succulents for Mother's Day.
I conceded.
And since Kati was the one with a vision for this theme, she was named the Chairman of the Decorating Committee.
I think she did a fabulous job!
Bekah and I were on the Food Committee, which worked out well as Kati was house sitting for friends most of the week. Our brunch menu was:
One of the dads had to work, so I invited all of the boys to come over for donuts and a movie in the library. (They ate brunch food later.) They were so quiet that my mom was startled when they came out after their movie was over. She had not even known that they were back there!
Big sister Macie was very interested in the gifts . . . until there was one for her! Then she happily put her hedgehog puzzle together over and over again. Her mommy had to open the rest of them by herself.

Now we excitedly await the arrival of Judah, our eleventh grandchild! He is due to be born in August . . . the month in which we celebrate six birthdays and three anniversaries!
We love him already and can't wait to meet him!

ReplyDeleteMy son and daughter-in-law is to find out soon if Piper is getting a little brother or a sister. Melissa hopes for another girl since she is close to her sisters. I'll be happy with a boy or a girl! My other five grandchildren just landed in Scotland (with their parents, of course) for a three week vacation.

Maci is just adorable! Those big blue eyes are just priceless. Those boys being as quiet as mice was very impressive! lol Don't know if any of mine could have pulled that off.
