After Caleb's illness . . .
I longed to get my eyes on him
to see for myself that he was well
to see that Kati and Andrew were well
to hear the ups-and-downs and behind-the-scenes of their ordeal with Caleb's health
to love and spend time together
to help Kati recharge after such long and lonely days.
I am so grateful for the week that I was able to spend with this dear family!
Seven wonderful days of baby holding/kissing/snuggling. Plenty of time to talk. A few coffee runs. Learning a new game while holding a sleeping baby. Good food.
I'm really not scowling; I am just a poor selfie-taker! But I wanted to record a typical moment from our week together. 💗 |
I was delighted to see that Kati and Andrew are doing well, enjoying their time together as a family, settling back into a routine (or as much of a routine that one can have with a baby . . . during a pandemic!).
And Caleb?
Amazing! He is gaining weight every day. He is happy . . . smiles easily, baby-talks, sleeps well at night. In the one week that I was there, he grew out of his swaddles into the next size, he started to reach for things with his little hands, he began to notice their dog Pepper, he noticed the fish tank as it bubbled, and the incisions on his little belly were remarkably improved.
I thank the Lord for answering our prayers for Caleb, for His strength for this young family, and for allowing me the opportunity to visit them and put my mama-heart at ease.
Cheryl, What a wonderful thing that you could have time to be with the family and hold that sweet baby. I am so thankful to God for helping all of you. Caleb is adorable. Blessings to all of you, beautiful family too. xoxo, Susie

ReplyDeleteThank you, Deanna! It was good!
DeleteGod is so very good - I'm thankful you were able to visit your daughter and her hubs and little boy - showering love and tender care - and coffee runs! ;) what sweet pictures.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, God is so very good! I am grateful for this answer to prayer . . . all the while realizing that even when the answer is "no," He is still good.
DeleteIt was wonderful to be able to visit!
What a joy for you to be able to visit and have some time with your family. I'm sure they needed a motherly presence too. Gorgeous baby!
ReplyDeleteIt was certainly a joy! Thank you, Barbara!
DeleteHow wonderful that you were able to get to spend time and see with your own eyes how things were going with this sweet family. Great reassurance to hold and see and experience the growth of Caleb and the whole family together. Makes me sigh in a good way.
ReplyDeleteThere is just something about seeing with your own eyes that is reassuring! Thank you for rejoicing with me, friend!
DeleteWhat great pictures - Caleb is just adorable. And do I see dimples too! My heart is completely melted. So glad you were able to spend some concentrated time with your daughter and her family. Thank you for sharing the photos with us.
ReplyDeleteDimples have a way of doing that, don't they? Thank you, Becki for your kind words and for being happy with us!
DeletePraising God with you!!!! Beautiful!!! It has been awhile, glad to be back here <3 ~tammy
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting today and for rejoicing with us! (Actually, I've been in and out of Blogland quite a bit myself lately for one reason or another! Life is often busy and complicated.)
DeleteOh God is so good. This precious family looks content and comfortable together. Caleb is darling and it is good to read that he is growing and doing so very well. I rather like the selfie of you and Caleb.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Vee! I posted this selfie on Facebook and had several comments about my serious expression. I was really concentrating on taking that picture. It is not my best skill. 😉 Nevertheless, I did lots of holding that week and I needed to document that.
DeleteYes, God is so good! I am so grateful for His generous gifts!
Beautiful Family !!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, meme!
DeleteSo glad you could visit with them again. Time spent with family and getting to know your son-in-law and new grandson even better is a good thing.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Melissa! Yes, it was a good thing . . . a true joy!
DeleteDear Cheryl ~ So wonderful that Caleb is doing great and that you were able to spend a whole week with this sweet little family. They all look well and happy. ~ FlowerLady
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lorraine . . . it was a such a gift!
DeleteSo happy Caleb is home and doing well. He looks terrific. In 1985, my 10 day old baby was operated on for pyloric stenosis too. I had been to the pediatrician office twice because of projectile vomiting and our baby had lost weight. The diagnosis was I was just an over reacting mom. I said okay but I'm going to the ER. The Dr. agreed to meet me there. After testing, the Dr. said our baby needed to go to Children's Hospital in San Diego and he had surgery that night. He has never had a problem since that time related to the pyloric stenosis. We were told that it usually happens with baby boys born to older moms. I don't know if that is the thought today but I was 33....not old but not 23. I haven't read your past posts but I'm so glad your daughter got a correct diagnosis and Caleb was treated. Patty McDonald
ReplyDeletePatty, thank you so much for sharing your story! I had not heard of pyloric stenosis until recently, and it is enlightening to learn that, although it is relatively rare, it does indeed affect many. Our daughter Kati is only 26, but Caleb falls into several of the other higher risk categories (first born, male, formula fed). Little Caleb needed to have a second surgery, but now he is thriving! Praise the Lord for that!
DeleteI suppose if one is to have a rare disease, this is a pretty good one to have as the cure rate is so high. I am glad that your son was cured once and for all. Again, I thank you for sharing your story with me!
This post makes me so happy, Cheryl! I'm so glad your Mama's heart was put to ease during your wonderful visit. Each smile speaks of the gratitude for the health of this precious child of God.
ReplyDeleteThank you for being happy with me, Martha Ellen! You can imagine how reassuring it was to be with my dear ones!
DeleteSuch a beautiful baby boy. I am so glad that you were able to spend these days with Katie and her little family. There's nothing like being together to satisfy the need of a Mama's heart.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lorrie! It was absolutely satisfying!
DeleteSo glad to see a post from you. What a cutie and dimples to boot. Adorable!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Michelle! Those dimples are something, aren't they?
DeleteI'm sure it did your heart so good to see first hand your little family. Thankful for wonderful answer to prayer and that Caleb is flourishing now. I love all the photos--they say a lot. And yes, those dimples! Now you have to start dreaming about the next time!
ReplyDeleteIt certainly did my heart good! I am so grateful for the opportunity to visit, and, yes, for the answer to our prayers for Caleb!
DeleteNothing better than a sweet baby.
