As the name of my blog indicates, I spend a lot of time thinking about home. Of course, my Heavenly Home is the one that is eternal, so that’s where I need to lay up my treasures, and that’s the one I’m striving for. But in the meantime, I have been given this tiny piece of the here-and-now—this home on the edge of town, this family, this neighborhood—in which to serve Him. And, though this is in the earthly realm, I want the things that happen here to be investments in the Heavenly realm.

Pumpkin Pie Ice Cream

Have I posted a pumpkin recipe every fall since I began blogging? Maybe not, but I have posted quite a few over the years. I am a pumpkin spice girl!

So when we decided to make ice cream for our Anne of Green Gables movie marathon day, I hunted for a pumpkin ice cream recipe and this is what I found. If you're a pumpkin spice girl too, I think you'll enjoy it! (And it only takes a few minutes from start to the freezer!)

PUMPKIN PIE ICE CREAM

Ingredients:
2 cups heavy whipping cream
1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
1/4 cup canned pumpkin (not pie filling)
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
dash of ground cloves

Directions:
Beat whipping cream with electric mixer on high until stiff peaks form.

Turn mixer to low; drizzle in sweetened condensed milk.

Fold in remaining ingredients.

Pour into freezer-safe container and freeze for at least four hours or overnight.

  1. I have never had pumpkin ice cream. I was thinking of baking pumpkin bread, which is about the extent of my pumpkin thinking. Does everyone in your family 🧡 it?

    1. Well let's see . . . Ron and I both loved it. Bekah liked it but didn't love it. Sarah gave it rave reviews. The grands all ate it but I am not sure if it was a flavor they'd choose.

Pumpkin bread is wonderful; you can't go wrong there! If you were here, I'd dip you a scoop of pumpkin ice cream so you could give it a taste test. :)

  2. This may sound nutty, but I hadn't even given thought to making anything "pumpkin" yet - and October will soon be over! I have canned pumpkin in the pantry, so I think pumpkin bread needs to be on my to-do list this weekend.

    1. You've been busy cleaning out . . . which is probably better than baking in many ways!

  3. That is a simple recipe! Sadly, Tim doesn't enjoy pumpkin recipes as much as I do, so I probably won't make this ice cream, since I'm trying to stay away from sugar. Sigh...

    1. Yes, it is an easy recipe. But I would never make it if I were the only one to eat it . . . way too dangerous! Most of my baking/dessert-making is only when we're having company or taking it to an event.

    1. I did the same thing, Rosella! I used some pumpkin that was left after making pumpkin chocolate chip cookies for my college grandson. It was a good use for it, I think!
