As we're driving down the road, Ron glances at the digital clock in the van.
Ron: I got up twelve hours ago.
Me: And we're still in the car.
Me: Hours and hours and hours in the car.
Me: And I don't even like to travel!
Me: How did this happen to me?!
Ron: Because you love a child.
Absolutely true.
We are home now, after visiting our "child" and her own family. It was worth every single mile of sunshine and fog and sudden rainstorms and smooth sailing and traffic and happy chatter and stiff muscles and coffee stops and commands from "Gertrude" (our GPS).
"Because you love a child."
We will endure many things because we love our children. Maybe travel is not a challenge for you, but I am sure that there are other things that you do only out of love.
And if I am willing to endure personal difficulty for the sake of being with my Kati and her sweet family, how much more am I willing to endure for Jesus, the One who loved me and gave Himself for me?
When I've gone the last mile of the way,
I will rest at the close of the day.
And I know there are joys that await me,
When I've gone the last mile of the way.*

What a lovely post, Cheryl. Love is such a great motivator. Actions do reveal the depth of love we have for a child, and for our Lord.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lorrie. I think that love might be the most powerful motivator . . .
DeleteI love this post and the picture of Kati and her little one. Yes, love is a strong factor in the things that we do. And especially our love for our Lord. Have a good week.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kathy. I pray to love Him more!
DeleteHowever old our children get, they will aways be 'children' needing our love.
ReplyDeleteThat is so true, Barbara!
Delete🙂 so true....❤️
ReplyDeleteIt is, Sandi! May we learn to love Him even more . . .
DeleteNow that was a sharp turn that I was not expecting. ☺️ I hope that we get to enjoy some of the visit and not just the traveling aspect, which sounds grueling. Yes, most parents would crawl over glass for their children, which reminds me of the Luke 11:13 aspect.
ReplyDeleteHope I didn't give you whiplash! Luke 11:13 is a powerful truth!
DeleteI do plan to gather some photos (mostly of the babies) and share the joy. That part was not grueling!
I've made several of those kinds of trips myself. It is for the love of our children, and their children.
ReplyDeleteIt's worth it.
Totally worth it!
DeleteSuch a beautiful post. They’re always out babies! Blessings.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! Yes, always!
DeleteOh the miles we've gone for those God has blessed our lives with. Glad you could visit and soak it all in. Beautiful stanza you shared...
ReplyDeleteIndeed, you have traveled far and wide, Ellen, to be with your loved ones! I'm sure you would agree that it is worth it!
DeleteWhat a lovely thought, Cheryl! It's true, love is a beautiful motivator.
ReplyDeleteIt really is, Brenda . . . in many circumstances and relationships!
DeleteWhat a sweet post. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Becki!
