As the name of my blog indicates, I spend a lot of time thinking about home. Of course, my Heavenly Home is the one that is eternal, so that’s where I need to lay up my treasures, and that’s the one I’m striving for. But in the meantime, I have been given this tiny piece of the here-and-now—this home on the edge of town, this family, this neighborhood—in which to serve Him. And, though this is in the earthly realm, I want the things that happen here to be investments in the Heavenly realm.

Gathering the Moments | May 2024

Our May was a very busy, bountiful, and celebratory month!

Kati and family came for a visit. Ryan and family came for a couple of days. We celebrated a graduation, three birthdays
(even though only one of those was actually in May), Mother's Day . . . and there was even a belated Christmas gift thrown into the mix!

They're here!

Bekah graduated from community college with high honors!
Her entire family was here to celebrate her achievement.
She worked hard and we are all so proud of her,
the baby of our family (who is sometimes known as "Baby Girl" 😉)

Twenty-three of us in Bekah's cheering section!

The grad with her parents

Bekah with her sister Kristin and her family

Bekah with her brother Ryan and his family

Mother's Day
As I said, the celebrations were fluid this month . . .
and we celebrated occasions whenever people were here.
By actual Mother's Day, the out-of-state kids and their families had returned home
and the "locals" gathered with our moms.

The remainder of May
Theater for three grands
(and running into our oldest grandson at the performance we attended and sitting together)
A bird-outside cat-inside the window encounter
Fresh flowers ~ fresh food
A 5th wedding anniversary
Spring

Taking the next steps . . .

  1. Congratulations to Bekah, she is still as sweet as ever. What are her next steps going to be, I wonder? Lots of lovely family time, and I always enjoy seeing photos of your mother.

    1. Awww . . . thanks so much Barbara! I will convey your kind words to Bekah and to Mom. Bekah has been a busy girl this summer, working two jobs as well as continuing to serve as our church's pianist, and she will be transferring to the university this fall to continue her studies.

  2. How wonderful for the whole family to be together. Was that the Biltmore House for the 5th Anniversary for their celebration? That is a beautiful place to visit.

    1. Thanks for your congrats and kind words, Ellen! I agree . . . it is hard to believe that Kati and Andrew have been married for five years already! It is always good to have our family together! And, yes, Auntie Bekah is a favorite with all of the little ones!

Thanks for bearing with my slow catching up. One more month to document and then I'm current again. (At least temporarily!)

  4. Congratulations to you Cheryl for catching up on all of your activities of May! A special congratulations to Bekah on her achievements--well done! Having her whole family at graduation is so special. It's lovely to see Kati and her family. Like Ellen said it's hard to believe she and Andrew have been married five years. I enjoyed the photos at the Assateague Lighthouse. Love the kissing sweethearts!

    1. Thanks to you, too, Martha Ellen, for your congrats and your kind words! It took me a while to gather May's moments, but I love having our special times documented . . . kind of like an old photo album, or, more recently, a scrapbook album. It was soooo wonderful to have everyone here to celebrate Bekah's graduation. And yes, it seems impossible that five years have flown by so quickly! (I do wish the kissing sweethearts had worn clothes that matched a little better! Haha!)

    1. Thank you so much, Becki! Absolutely, we are blessed. To think that each of her siblings made the effort to be there for Bekah's graduation warmed this mama's heart!
