I have been pondering the small things today.
In a blog post, my friend Lorrie (whose slice-of-life blog is a feast for the eyes and the mind) shared something that she had recently read . . . that satisfaction is found most in the small details of life.
And that stirred my thoughts about some small things that have brought me satisfaction lately. I'll name a few.
🌿A slow Saturday morning, beginning with Ron and me drinking our coffee in the sunroom.
🌿A drive along the water.
🌿Putzing around the house.
🌿A surprise message from a friend . . . just because.
🌿Doing laundry in my new laundry closet.
🌿The crepe myrtles in bloom.
🌿The limelight hydrangea almost in bloom. So close!
🌿Buying supplies for a new craft project.
🌿A group of ladies around my table for Bible study.
What about you? What small details have brought you satisfaction?
It is often the small details that have the biggest impact, I find. Finding a beautiful butterfly on one of my plants brought a thrill to my heart today.
ReplyDeleteYes! Thank you for sharing that thrill, Barbara!
DeleteThank you for sharing your small and satisfying details. Picking another bouquet of fragrant sweet peas brought me satisfaction today.
ReplyDeleteI was happy for the reminder to notice those details!
DeleteI like your small details that brought you joy. Here it was seeing the quail babies following their mama, coffee in the morning, the views out our windows, working on a jigsaw puzzle, and making something out of nothing for dinner. :)
ReplyDeleteOoooo . . . the quail babies following their mama! I would i> to have seen that little parade! Love hearing about your small details!
DeleteHearing a hummingbird zip around me when I'm outside deadheading the flowers. While the daylilies are blooming it's a nearly everyday experience. Love your list, Cheryl. Thank you for reminding us to notice the details, and even more to actually talk about the pleasure they bring.
ReplyDeleteThat is a sweet detail, Becki! I think it does our hearts good to notice!
DeleteHearing about my sons’ day at work, a quick afternoon thunderstorm, wee jars of jam ordered for bridal shower favors, flowers from an Amish road side stand from Tim. These are mine!
ReplyDeleteDeanna Rabe
I love your list, Deanna! Thank you for sharing it!
DeleteSeeing new blooms daily - hydrangea, bee balm, lilies, purple coneflowers. 10 foot tall cornstalks! Good coffee and fresh eggs. Chickens, beehives and pets. Talking w hubby. So many blessings that the Lord loads upon us every moment, many of them I miss - but the gratitude is always there.
ReplyDeleteSo many blessings . . . yes! Thank you for sharing yours! Gratitude is important, isn't it? And acknowledging that all of the small details are gifts from the Lord!
DeleteFinding a shady spot under a tree to park my car in on a brutally hot day.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a satisfying detail!
DeleteSuddenly realizing that when I moved by bird bath closer to the front door, I can see it from "my chair" in the living room! Watching all the birds now is easier without disturbing them. Your list looks so fun too...new craft project!
ReplyDeleteWatching the birds from "your chair" is a lovely "small detail" When those kinds of things happen, don't you wonder why you didn't think of it before?
DeleteIf my craft project turns out well, I'll share it here. Well, I might even share it if it doesn't! :)
I love this so much. It’s those quiet, beautiful moments that really fill our hearts, isn’t it? Morning coffee, blooming flowers, kind messages—such simple joys that mean the world. .
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reminder to savor the small!
Greetings from Indonesia
Yes, those moments do fill the heart! Thank you for stopping in, Asep!
