As I look ahead to a new year, I am pondering these words...
“I am not what I ought to be, I am not what I want to be, I am not what I hope to be in another world;
but still I am not what I once used to be,
but still I am not what I once used to be,
and by the grace of God I am what I am.”
~ John Newton
I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

What wondrous words to ponder, Cheryl. Pressing on. But not just pressing on for the sake of pressing on, but for the sake of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. I'm reminded of Much-Afraid in Hinds Feet, who at one point in her journey to the High Places looked back upon her time in the Valley of Humiliation and said the words ... "I was once that girl, but I am not that girl now!" Yesterday, I read a quote by Augustine that said ... "A Christian should be an Alleluia from head to foot." Amen.
ReplyDeletePraying you and your dear family will know the deepest of joys in the coming new year! I love all of you ....
