As the name of my blog indicates, I spend a lot of time thinking about home. Of course, my Heavenly Home is the one that is eternal, so that’s where I need to lay up my treasures, and that’s the one I’m striving for. But in the meantime, I have been given this tiny piece of the here-and-now—this home on the edge of town, this family, this neighborhood—in which to serve Him. And, though this is in the earthly realm, I want the things that happen here to be investments in the Heavenly realm.

This and That

THIS  is the darling pic of my beautiful seventeen-month-old granddaughter Alaine, taken by her Aunt Kati last week.  To say that I love it would be putting it mildly.  It is currently my desktop wallpaper.  I think that Alaine looks like a model for an Eloise Wilkin illustration in this shot.  Precious.

THAT  is an update.  In a recent Sunday Snapshot, I told you about the bookshelves that Ron made and installed for Kristin and Brian's new house.  Well today Kristin revealed the finished project on her blog!  Hop on over ~HERE~ to read the story and see her before and after pictures.

  3. Okay, I'm back!

That is an amazing bookshelf! And to think there will be another one on the other side of the sliding doors!

Love her chair too. I could easily spend an afternoon there, curled up with a good book....

  4. She IS absolutely precious, and you're right...definitely an Eloise Wilkin model with those soulful brown eyes...

So, I can't remember if I asked you before... Is your husband a cabinet maker by trade or is it just a hobby? Either way he is quite impressive! You lucky girl.

Thanks for cluing me in to who was ill. I felt like Maria in the sound of Music when she says her prayers in bed and is reminded that the one she forgot was Frederich. Now I could put a name in my prayer. "God bless Bekah!"

Hope she is feeling better and that the rest of you have remained germ free.

  5. Your granddaughter is so cute! Love the pigtails.

Visiting from no spring chicken. I realized that I've commented on your daughter's blog before and am just now connecting it with yours.

I wish my mom would start up a blog - she's over 750 miles away from us (or should I say that we're 750 miles away from her). :)
