As the name of my blog indicates, I spend a lot of time thinking about home. Of course, my Heavenly Home is the one that is eternal, so that’s where I need to lay up my treasures, and that’s the one I’m striving for. But in the meantime, I have been given this tiny piece of the here-and-now—this home on the edge of town, this family, this neighborhood—in which to serve Him. And, though this is in the earthly realm, I want the things that happen here to be investments in the Heavenly realm.

September

September is full of beginnings.

The beginning of a new year of life for a 3-year-old granddaughter.
The beginning of 7th grade for Bekah.
The beginning of homeschool gym class.

Fresh paint on the front porch.
Fresh apple pie.
Freshly baked pumpkin bread. With chocolate chips.

New goals.
Newly turning leaves.
New compassions.

It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
They are new every morning; great is thy faithfulness.
Lamentations 3:22, 23

  1. That's really great! I'm so sorry, I missed almost all your posts for September, as it was my son's birthday month and I myself got a little too crafty :). Thanks for the summary :) You're blessed with beautiful daughters Cheryl. I always learn some thing new whenever I visit your blog :)
