As the name of my blog indicates, I spend a lot of time thinking about home. Of course, my Heavenly Home is the one that is eternal, so that’s where I need to lay up my treasures, and that’s the one I’m striving for. But in the meantime, I have been given this tiny piece of the here-and-now—this home on the edge of town, this family, this neighborhood—in which to serve Him. And, though this is in the earthly realm, I want the things that happen here to be investments in the Heavenly realm.

Memory-Making Moments {Part 2}

Their parents left for home, and Papa, Gran, Aunt Kati, and Aunt Bekah set about to fill these special days with fun, with happy moments, and with love. Could we pack seven years' worth of memories into several days? Maybe not, but we did our best!

Roasting hot dogs on the patio

A day at the beach...with the cousins!!
Eve, Aunt Bekah, and Nora wearing the butterfly tees that my mom gave them all last summer.
The next day, all of them (including Maddie) wore them to a program at the library, but Gran forgot her camera.

Snow Cones!!

My beautiful breakfast mates

One evening, Peter walked out of the bathroom like this.
I had a major flashback!
His daddy used to do the same thing when he was Peter's age and we called him the "little green man."

Papa cooked waffles for supper, per request.
Do all children love breakfast-for-dinner?

Aunt Kati took the kids out for ice cream.
Of course, she took them to Chick-fil-A to show them off to her coworkers. :)

We read lots of books!
Reading with Gran...

...reading with Aunt Bekah...

...and bedtime stories with Aunt Kati.

S'mores for dessert.
It was raining that evening, so we made them in the microwave.

Big moments and little moments for the making of memories with the faraway grands...who aren't so far away anymore!

  4. Ah Cheryl, I could feel the air, the sand, the water, and sense the fun and adventure! I see that someone else loves those little Beatrix Potter books too. I gave the entire set to my daughter for her kids. I love it that the kids are getting so much read-aloud time. Love it!

  5. Oh happy times! Just a downpayment on more good times I am sure. They certainly have many devoted aunties, wonderful cousins, and loving, doting grandparents to make the separation from parents go as smoothly as possible. I can't imagine a much more idyllic time in the summer than all of your fun activities.
