As the name of my blog indicates, I spend a lot of time thinking about home. Of course, my Heavenly Home is the one that is eternal, so that’s where I need to lay up my treasures, and that’s the one I’m striving for. But in the meantime, I have been given this tiny piece of the here-and-now—this home on the edge of town, this family, this neighborhood—in which to serve Him. And, though this is in the earthly realm, I want the things that happen here to be investments in the Heavenly realm.

Saturday Graces

Graces...things that I do not deserve, but that He has seen fit to give to me. These are joys here on a September Saturday.

~ The doors are flung open this morning to welcome in a pleasant breeze! It is glorious!

~ I added touches of fall to my home this week, even though it was crazy hot and humid! Company was coming and that gave me a little incentive to get it done. Now I can enjoy it on this lovely Saturday morning.

~ We are getting ready for an ice cream party this evening, the last one of the season. I am experimenting with a new autumn-inspired flavor: maple walnut. I'll let you know how it turns out.

~ I am reflecting on a successful first week of school! Where we sometimes ease into our studies, this time we just jumped right in, met all of our goals, worked hard, had some fun, and it's like we never stopped!

What are the graces in your world today?

  1. I love seeing your autumn decor! The Pineapple House is amazing, I can't wait to see it in person.

    Hurray for home education!

  2. Oh there are so many graces. We've seen some significant answers to prayer--and blessings--all undeserved. Your autumn touches look nice. Did you paint your front door or was it that color already? It's a tad darker than mine and I really like it. Can you tell me the color if you have it? Thanks! Enjoy your party.

  3. I must learn to pay attention to all the good things going on. Your autumn decor is lovely! My sister-in-law and I stopped for ice cream this afternoon and there was a new autumn flavor...pumpkin. I had salty caramel and she had rocky road. Guess the thought of pumpkin ice cream was too much. I like the color of your door, too. It looks like a little darker shade than what I have.

  4. Let's see...a fall candle burning, a new dessert recipe, and watching my grandson play flag football

  5. Such pretty touches of fall, Cheryl. There are many graces I have enjoyed today. Happy grandsons laughing and enjoying themselves must be on top! Then I must not fail to remember that only a week ago poison ivy was driving me crazy. Now, it's all healed. Thank you, God. ♥

  6. Beautiful fall touches for sure! Love the color of your front door! We are enjoying a visit with my cousin and his wife who happens to be my friend before she married my cousin. We are also enjoying wind and rain and cooler weather. I love your fireplace/mantel and the setting around it!

  7. Grace layered upon grace here! Health, time with my father, good relationships with my siblings during family transition, a short meet-up with one of our daughters, technology that keeps me in touch with our family in spite of distances that separate us, comforts of home, and a patient, supportive husband.

The beautiful serenity of your home is apparent in your photos and words. May His beauty continue to rest upon you and yours ♥
