As the name of my blog indicates, I spend a lot of time thinking about home. Of course, my Heavenly Home is the one that is eternal, so that’s where I need to lay up my treasures, and that’s the one I’m striving for. But in the meantime, I have been given this tiny piece of the here-and-now—this home on the edge of town, this family, this neighborhood—in which to serve Him. And, though this is in the earthly realm, I want the things that happen here to be investments in the Heavenly realm.

Aunt Love

The girls are so blessed to be aunts. They love their role!

When Bekah became an aunt for the first time, she was only 20 months old. Her oldest nephews and nieces are almost more like siblings to her. But she has grown in her aunt position as more little ones have come along.

Here are a few recent pics of the girls with their baby niece . . .

Seeing my children with their children, and my children with their nieces and nephews, warms my heart through and through.

  1. It's such a delight, isnt it? I love the way my kids love each other's kids! And the way the younger aunts and uncle love their nieces!

  3. Such precious moments between aunts and their nieces and nephew. Aunts have a special role in the development of a child's self esteem as they are grow. I remember those tender moments spent with my own wonderful aunts. It's a part of who I am. Such a tender post, Cheryl. ♥

    1. There is definitely something special about an aunt relationship! It is a big responsibility, but it also has lots of perks!

I love what you say about your own aunts' influence being a part of you now. I am going to share that with my girls. Thank you for your insight, Martha Ellen.

  4. The sweetest of posts with photos to just make it sweeter. Your grands are blessed to have two aunties that love them and can give them lots of attention! And it's nice you can observe it all.

  5. Awww...I can so relate here...I was an aunt when I was five and always have considered myself very blessed to have so many nieces and nephews, nearly back as far as I can remember. I learned how to care for babies by getting lots of practice on them! I had such a blessed weekend as I was able to spend the weekend with 3 of my oldest brother's girls in SC. Yes, being an aunt has been one of my biggest blessings in life! Precious, precious pics of your girls and those sweet babies!

    1. So nice to hear the "aunt" perspective from another very young aunt . . . and wonderful to hear you describe aunthood (my computer does not like that word I just invented) as one of your biggest blessings!

      Thank you, Debby!

  6. Some wonderful photos shared here... My favorites are when the adult's love and admiration for the child is on display. Oh, yes, it's lovely to see all smiling faces focused on the camera, but they do not show any interaction, which is what I want to see. The photographer here did a great job! And are aunts not the best? I have two aunts still with me and I treasure them. My daughter is a wonderful auntie. My sister is a wonderful auntie. I hope that I am a good auntie, too.

  11. Oh Cheryl - such sweet moments and auntie love! I was blessed with 2 dozen nieces and nephews before I was married and loved each and every one of them. Now they are grown and have their own families - such a joy to see them as wonderful parents! My aunties are all gone but one and they all had an amazing influence on my life!
