As the name of my blog indicates, I spend a lot of time thinking about home. Of course, my Heavenly Home is the one that is eternal, so that’s where I need to lay up my treasures, and that’s the one I’m striving for. But in the meantime, I have been given this tiny piece of the here-and-now—this home on the edge of town, this family, this neighborhood—in which to serve Him. And, though this is in the earthly realm, I want the things that happen here to be investments in the Heavenly realm.

A Quarter of a Century

Well, as you've been saying, you're a "quarter of a century" now! That means we have had twenty-five years of loving you, twenty-five years of enjoying the blessing that you are to our world!

I love that we laugh (uproariously) at the same things. I love that you're a nature lover and see the beauty in the lovely and in the lowly things. I love that you are a clear thinker. I love that you are orderly. I love that you are a loving aunt to your eleven nieces and nephews. I love that you are a plan-aheader. I love that you are creative. I love that you are generous and thrifty at the same time. I love that you are patient and kind and gentle. Mostly, I love that you love the Lord and you trust His plan for your life.

I hope that this new year of your life is filled with dreams come true! But even more, I pray that you can say this:

But as for me, the nearness of God is my good;
I have made the Lord my refuge, that I may tell of all Your works.
Psalm 73:28

Birthday blessings and much love,
Mom

(Blessings and love from Dad too! Even though he doesn't laugh uproariously when we laugh, he would say everything else.)

    1. 🎁 Happy Birthday to a beautiful gal! Hope this birthday week is a blast. 🎈🎈🎉🎈

      (Love that you both share the same sense of humor,,,my sister and I do, but not my daughter and I. It’s great fun to have that mutual sense. Makes me wonder how Ron handles your giggles...is he perplexed or does he just roll wih it?)

      It is fun to share a sense of humor! Ron (and sometimes Bekah) just shake their heads at us!

  6. Cheryl, you have such a lovely family! But don't you wonder how you can possibly have a 25-year-old; I mean, you're only about 25, inside anyway! :-) My father never "got" what my mother and I were laughing about, but that was okay! Thank you so much for your well wishes last week. Getting better every day.

    1. Thank you, Jean! And it's funny how that happens . . . how we age on the outside, but we still feel 25 on the inside! The mother of my good friend once said to her daughter and me, "How can you both be in your thirties when I'm still 18?!"

      So glad you're feeling better!

  8. Cheryl, this is one of the best posts ever written! Resonating with my mother's heart. Chickie is one year older than your Katie, and our mother-daughter relationships have a lot of similarities. It's wonderful when a parent-child relationship transitions successfully to a parent-adult child relationship. Not just mother-daughter but dearest friends with long history.
