While Kati was visiting last week, the ladies of our family gathered to celebrate her new baby girl who will be arriving this summer!
Last year, we had planned a bigger shower with friends and extended family as Kati was expecting her first baby. The shower date was March 22, and we all know what happened that week. The trip was cancelled, the shower was cancelled, and we all retreated into our homes. So disappointing!
Fourteen months later, Kati is expecting her second baby, she and Andrew were able to travel to Maryland, and we planned a baby shower brunch to celebrate!
CHILDREN'S BOOKS had been the theme of the cancelled shower and since we had saved some of the decorations, we just added a little pink to the mix and kept the theme. Kati and Andrew are both readers, and we're certain that their children will be too!
We decorated the cupcakes with tiny "book" picks, and scattered a few favorite children's books around the room. Peter Rabbit napkins and a cheerful balloon banner completed the look.
Our brunch menu was similar to the one we had at our "Little Cutie" baby shower in March, which was similar to the menu of the "All Things Grow With Love" shower a few years ago. (I think I need to come up with a new menu whenever we celebrate the next baby!)

I told my husband the other day that I think the grandparent stage is the best stage of our lives! What a wonderful shower and sweet grands!

DeleteThat looked like an awesome day and the food looked fabulous. But I must say, your family and home are just lovely. I was a little teary when I saw all the books!. My kids are now 24 and 29 and we read all of them. Another nice author is Cynthia Rylant with the Henry and Mudge series. Really sweet. Take care and stay well. Barb in PA

DeleteOh my. I feel like we could sit down together and have a long chat (with a few tears thrown in) about raising children and reading books and happy memories! We love Cynthia Rylant too and I'm not sure how we missed including any of her books. Henry and Mudge, Mr. Putter and Tabby, Little Whistle . . . all loved!

What a fine baby shower with babies in attendance. What could be more perfect? The women in your family are extraordinary people. The quilt Eve made for her new cousin is beautiful. Kati looks ready for a new baby. She'll be a busy lady with her handsome little boy and darling baby girl. Hope that you grandparents will be able to visit easily once the baby is here.

Cheryl, that's just the sort of baby shower I like! And don't you dare change the menu—this one should go down in family history as "your" shower menu! And the table and decorations are just as they should be. Relaxed elegance and just the right amount of people. I hate pretentious extravaganzas with dozens and dozens of guests, many of whom are wondering why they were even invited!
