As the name of my blog indicates, I spend a lot of time thinking about home. Of course, my Heavenly Home is the one that is eternal, so that’s where I need to lay up my treasures, and that’s the one I’m striving for. But in the meantime, I have been given this tiny piece of the here-and-now—this home on the edge of town, this family, this neighborhood—in which to serve Him. And, though this is in the earthly realm, I want the things that happen here to be investments in the Heavenly realm.

Weekend Snapshots: BekahBoo is 12!

The baby of the family just turned 12...
and we took the whole weekend to mark this milestone!
(If you don't know Bekah's story, you can read it ~here~.)

On Saturday:

a picnic lunch
the zoo
the playground
dinner at a Mexican restaurant

...back home for birthday presents
and chocolate chip cheesecake!

Then on Sunday:

An extended family birthday party!

In the bottom photo, everyone was trying to eat a very sour lemon candy without making a face!

Also this weekend...
stories about Bekah's birth and her name
Sense and Sensibility

We thank the Lord for the blessing of Bekah!

  1. Oh what a great birthday weekend this was! Is the bike new? Sooooo pretty... Bekah is growing into a lovely young lady and it says good things about her that she reads her cards! The sour lemon drop photo is priceless. Who cracked first?

(I also enjoyed reading about God's goodness to your family in preserving Bekah's life. A wonderful testimony!)

  3. What a weekend! You gave us such beautiful snippets of Bekah's celebration (her last year before becoming a teenager!). The cake, the bike, the cupcakes. the banner, the family gathered --and it looks like she got Little Women. How I loved that book when I was her age! (still do!)
