As the name of my blog indicates, I spend a lot of time thinking about home. Of course, my Heavenly Home is the one that is eternal, so that’s where I need to lay up my treasures, and that’s the one I’m striving for. But in the meantime, I have been given this tiny piece of the here-and-now—this home on the edge of town, this family, this neighborhood—in which to serve Him. And, though this is in the earthly realm, I want the things that happen here to be investments in the Heavenly realm.

{Gathering the Moments} September

The month just began (didn't it?) with a little girl's birthday and a visit to a seaside town and a project kind of vacation. And even an ice cream party! It was summer as September began!

And then we were back to school and back to routine. Back to piano lessons and PE class and Book Club.

We enjoyed the fellowship of precious friends, and fellowship with family.

Autumn began to peek out of nooks and crannies...

There was change...
from computer cabinet to china closet
from vacation to routine
from 7th grade to 8th grade
from geraniums and ice cream to mums and apples
from summer to autumn

And there are big changes on the horizon...big and wonderful!

Yes, they are moving on!

Our son Ryan will have a new position in November (yes!) and our faraway family, for the first time in over seven years, will be not so far away! We are elated! We're already thinking weekend trips and holidays and grands coming for a stay and so on and so on...

As I gather the moments of September, I am grateful.
For the changes. And for the fact that our Lord never changes.

...the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. (James 1:17)

Again this month, I am inviting you to join me in "gathering the moments." You may wish to share two or three photos, or several collages, or bunches of photos...with words, or without words. The link-up below will be a gathering place for us to reflect and share and connect. (The link-up will stay open for a week, so you have plenty of time to gather.)

Thinking About Home

  1. The collage of family photos is just superb. I don't know how to begin to do this and don't have photo software but my hubs does, may have to check it out. I'd love to have a wide blog banner for my blog and perhaps that may be a possibility too if I find out how to use it. Have a great day!

  3. I love seeing your moments and look forward to it each month. And oh how exciting to have your "far away" family move closer!!! I know first hand how this must thrill your heart, and how much it will change the amount of time to you can all be together. I keep praying that it might be our story someday! Hope your week is a good one!

  4. I love the way you gather up your moments each month. There is a charm and tone to your collages and photos that is just lovely. Its fun to peek into your life, such as, I have that Beatrice Potter journal--such a fun book--and are you making vanilla? Beautiful autumn views, and of course wonderful, wonderful news at the end!

  9. I'm so excited for you all that Ryan and family will be closer! Woo hoo!

That Beatrix Potter journal caught my eye. A certain Sarah girl would enjoy that. I'll have to see if I can order it for Christmas! But shhhh, don't tell! :)

Delightful photos as usual. You are dearly blessed!

  14. I'm with you I don't know where the month of September went. I am a little sad to see summer go but looking forward to the cooler temps and the colors of fall. How nice those far away grands will be closer, November not that far away. As always love the photos, they tell a story
