As the name of my blog indicates, I spend a lot of time thinking about home. Of course, my Heavenly Home is the one that is eternal, so that’s where I need to lay up my treasures, and that’s the one I’m striving for. But in the meantime, I have been given this tiny piece of the here-and-now—this home on the edge of town, this family, this neighborhood—in which to serve Him. And, though this is in the earthly realm, I want the things that happen here to be investments in the Heavenly realm.

Another Series About House Projects

Again, I am going to start the year talking about house projects. (Last year's series is ~here~.)

It seems like Ron and I have been doing house projects our whole married life . . . and indeed, we have! We did a little bit of remodeling in the house we rented from his parents as newlyweds. Then we bought The Farmhouse (I talk about its humble beginnings ~here~) and we began huge house projects like gutting rooms and replacing windows and moving doors!

Yikes!!

We spent years doing huge projects with blood, sweat, and tears (not kidding). . . and then more years doing "normal people" projects and tweaks.

This spring, we will have been at Pineapple House for four years (it's crazy how quickly time passes!) and we have been doing projects all the while . . . making updates, making the house fit with our style and with how we live in it.

Here are details of the house projects that had been completed as of last January.

And now it's a new year and we have new plans!

These are the house-y posts that I am working on to share in the next few weeks, house projects past, present, and future!

We actually (finally) completed our goals for this room before Thanksgiving, but I have not done a whole post on it yet. First, I was waiting for my new iPhone with a decent camera . . . then I was busy with the holidays . . . and we have had rainy day after rainy day (not good for pictures) and a weekend of company. But I can't wait to show you what we've done and tell you how it's working for us!

It may be a small house project, but it has been a stinker.

Update on House Project Goals 2019
How did we do in accomplishing last year's goals?

Plans for Pineapple House this year!

Do you have any house goals/plans for 2020?

  1. We are talking of things that need to be done to the house, like windows being replaced, and new siding. We don't like debt so we need to allow some funds to grow first but hopefully these will get done this year. With a wedding this spring, I'm thinking these projects will be later in the year! (grin!)

  3. Four years? Are you sure? Goodness, I have lost my grasp of time.

I remember the days of constant and ongoing projects in my world. I’m afraid that those days are over, in spite of things not being quite accomplished. It will be interesting to see what you folks are planning next.

    1. I know, right? How does four years pass so quickly?!

Your dear handyman did SO many projects at your Haven. What a blessing! I know that you miss him still (for much, much more than his handyman skills). ❤

Good luck with your 2020 projects, and you have a new grand baby coming..., your year is filled with much joy, hard work, and lots of rewards. We have a few projects on our list, but for now we must get through the surgery.
Thank you for your kind thoughts and prayers,

  6. I'll say it again - I love your style! Can't wait to see what you've all done and are planning to do! There are always things to update and maintain in an old farm house so our work never seems to be done here! You will inspire me I'm certain.

    1. Thanks so much, Rosella! I know what you mean about an old farm house! Always something to do! Not as much here at Pineapple House . . . but the projects continue. In fact, we started on a pretty big one here today!

  7. Four years! Yes, time just has a way of flying, especially when you look back. Looking forward to all your homey posts. Yes, we do have plans for our country bungalow. Right now Dear is updating our Master Bath with paint. We still have the bedrooms, kitchen and laundry room to paint. We are going to move the laundry door over 6 inches so we can fit the huge refrigerator on the wall that has the appropriate plug for it. As far as paint in the kitchen goes we are trying to decide whether to paint the upper cabinets white. We also are talking about how better to utilize the storage room off of our master bedroom. Those wire shelves aren't deep enough or strong enough... Yikes!

    1. Yes! So much happens in four years . . . and yet it flies by! It sounds like you have lots of projects on your list too. I think when you move into a house, it takes a while to make it yours and to figure out exactly how to use the house best. Slow, but steady is usually best. I'll be looking forward to reading about your projects over on your blog!
