As the name of my blog indicates, I spend a lot of time thinking about home. Of course, my Heavenly Home is the one that is eternal, so that’s where I need to lay up my treasures, and that’s the one I’m striving for. But in the meantime, I have been given this tiny piece of the here-and-now—this home on the edge of town, this family, this neighborhood—in which to serve Him. And, though this is in the earthly realm, I want the things that happen here to be investments in the Heavenly realm.

A Breakfast Request

This morning I ask Bekah what she would like for breakfast.  I expect her to say toast with Nutella, or maybe a poptart, as she is not a big eater and usually wants something simple for breakfast.  However, she is a detail person, artsy and all about "pretty," and this morning she says,

I want a half of a cranberry bagel,
cut in half,
with cream cheese on both sides,
not like a sandwich,
laid on the plate like a butterfly.

(How's that for detail?)

Fait accompli!

  1. How wonderful! I love Bekah's artsy and "pretty" spirit! Presenting a bagel like this would never have crossed my mind, but I love it! Why do "ordinary" but you can do "extraordinary"?!!!

  3. Sounds a bit like Owen. He is always asking for sandwiches shaped like different things. :-)

  4. Cheryl, I just came back and looked at this posting again. I should do a better job of proofreading my comments before hitting the final button. As I'm sure you realize, I meant to say .... "Why do ordinary WHEN you can do extraordinary?"
