As the name of my blog indicates, I spend a lot of time thinking about home. Of course, my Heavenly Home is the one that is eternal, so that’s where I need to lay up my treasures, and that’s the one I’m striving for. But in the meantime, I have been given this tiny piece of the here-and-now—this home on the edge of town, this family, this neighborhood—in which to serve Him. And, though this is in the earthly realm, I want the things that happen here to be investments in the Heavenly realm.

Sunday Snapshots: What Makes a Party?

It didn't start out to be a party.

But after lunch, someone wanted to play Christmas Carol Charades...

...and then we had dessert
with coffee or hot chocolate or mint hot chocolate or Winter Spice tea

...and then a piano duet by the eldest and youngest daughters
who played "Silent Night."

So when everyone left, the littles each clutching a candy cane,
it felt like we had celebrated.

(I think it was a party.)

  1. It sounds like a party to me! A perfect sort of one, too. Christmas carol charades...must file that thought.

  2. I love the charades idea. We'll be playing this week while with family on vacation.

  4. I think the unplanned parties might be the very best parties of all! The kind where the heart and the love dictate what will come next. I love the thought of the "littles" clutching their candy canes! And I can almost hear the sweet refrains of "Silent Night".
