As the name of my blog indicates, I spend a lot of time thinking about home. Of course, my Heavenly Home is the one that is eternal, so that’s where I need to lay up my treasures, and that’s the one I’m striving for. But in the meantime, I have been given this tiny piece of the here-and-now—this home on the edge of town, this family, this neighborhood—in which to serve Him. And, though this is in the earthly realm, I want the things that happen here to be investments in the Heavenly realm.

Sunday Snapshots: April Fool!

When is it okay to have cake for lunch?

Maybe when it is really meatloaf and mashed potatoes?

And if there are hamburgers for dessert,
can you really satisfy your sweet tooth?

Maybe we should ask Gavin!

Some tricky food, a few pranks, and a bit of silliness characterized our April Fool's Day!

Ken (who has been known to play a few tricks in his time) got in on the fun.
He showed up in the most unsuspecting places.  He even tried to blend in with the dolls on the sofa.

At the end of the day, he sneaked out to the van with Kati and Owen.
He was already buckled into Maddie's seat when she got there.
He peered at everyone from the top of Papa's truck.
And then he waved good-bye from outside the van door.
That Ken!

  1. Super fun idea? And are the hamburgers real hamburgers or really a dessert made to look like HB's? Beautiful "cake"!

  2. What a great idea! Have you seen the French fries and ketchup at Judy's My Front Porch? Your grands would love them!

  3. Yes, the hamburgers were dessert! They were brownie cut-out "hamburgers" on cupcake "buns" with frosting "mustard" and "ketchup"...a regular sugar fest! :D

Heading over to check out the French fries and ketchup...

  6. I can't take all the credit!

Kati and Bekah made the hamburger cupcakes. Ron did the mashed potatoes. Kati "frosted" the "cake".

(It sounds like I'm a slacker. I did make the meatloaf though.) :D

  7. What fun!! You really turned out some beautiful prankster food. And that Ken! I'm ashamed to say that we completely forgot the fun until it was later in the day and we weren't in the mood. Yesterday my dad went into the hospital to have a 9mm kidney stone taken care of. It's been a long week and yesterday was a long day... He's in so much pain but refuses pain killer. He'll take 1 tylenol and that's it. Poor mom... I digress.

So glad that you all were having double fun. Maybe I'll pull Ken out today and see what happens! ;)

    Blessings, Debbie
