As the name of my blog indicates, I spend a lot of time thinking about home. Of course, my Heavenly Home is the one that is eternal, so that’s where I need to lay up my treasures, and that’s the one I’m striving for. But in the meantime, I have been given this tiny piece of the here-and-now—this home on the edge of town, this family, this neighborhood—in which to serve Him. And, though this is in the earthly realm, I want the things that happen here to be investments in the Heavenly realm.

A Colonial Farmhouse Christmas

It's Christmas at the Farmhouse!

If you were here this evening...

You would hear Bekah (11) playing on the piano one of my favorite carols, "Angels From the Realms of Glory." You would smell the pungent aroma of Village Candle's "Christmas Tree" candle. Mmmm... You could taste some applesauce cake, or some Crinkle Top Molasses Cookies made by Kati and still warm from the oven. You would feel all warm and cozy, in contrast to the damp chill just outside the door.

But since you can't all be here, you'll just have to see how we have decked our halls in preparation for gathering with our family and friends to celebrate The One who has come, our Messiah!

Joy to the World, the Lord has come! ♫

Thank you for stopping by to have a peek at our farmhouse!

  2. It's so nice to see your lovely home. I like your green cabinets and the tree in your wonderful kitchen! I think I'd rather stay in at your house, than go out! Did I say that correctly?

  4. Beautiful!

I love the simplicity but the real beauty of what you have done.

Looks so much like what our ancestors would have done - greening their homes for the season!

    I adore your kitchen tree!

  5. So cozy...so charming...so simply festive. Is that a wreath of rosemary for your kitchen window? Darling! Yes, I love home tours. Used to go to real ones at Christmas time, but all the walking now in snow and on ice doesn't make me as excited as it once did. These will just fit the bill. Are you linked up? You should be!

  6. Cheryl,
As I scrolled through the post, the words that came to me were: rest, tranquility, peace, refuge, retreat.
    Beautiful, my friend.

  9. I like the gentle touch of your early American decorating, your painted kitchen, the oranges and popcorn among the greenery, the pineapple and pewter. It is comfortable, cozy and nostalgic. Each scene has its own uncluttered Colonial style interest. I wish you could lend me some everyday decorating ideas for my house. I am so indecisive.
