As the name of my blog indicates, I spend a lot of time thinking about home. Of course, my Heavenly Home is the one that is eternal, so that’s where I need to lay up my treasures, and that’s the one I’m striving for. But in the meantime, I have been given this tiny piece of the here-and-now—this home on the edge of town, this family, this neighborhood—in which to serve Him. And, though this is in the earthly realm, I want the things that happen here to be investments in the Heavenly realm.

Saturday Potpourri

I'm finally finishing up Kati's photo-a-day challenge! Here are my last two days of photos.

day 29: grass
Last Sunday was a busy day and I didn't think to take a picture of grass until we were at our church picnic in the evening. Among people, I was not willing to lay on my belly in order to get a good photo (I have my limits, even for blogging!), so I set my camera in the grass and clicked and this is what I got. You can see Bekah's feet and legs in the background.

day 30: looking up
Looking up, late afternoon. Sun glowing behind some clouds that looked a little ominous but brought no rain, backyard trees, and the barn rooftop.

Scenes from the 4th...

After Arthur discouraged us from going to our family reunion this year, we decided to keep this tradition

The sun came out in the afternoon and we had some backyard fun.

Pinky followed us around, stalking the bocce ball! :)

Off to the fireworks display in a nearby town where we met Kristin and family.

Today, it's window washing, shutter painting, chowder cooking, and cake baking! What's going on in your corner?

  1. Cheryl,

Rachel and I were literally just talking about window washing! Great minds!

I have plans to paint my shutters this summer as well - ours were formerly a hunter green I believe, but were and still are faded since we bought the house.
I intend for them to be a nice glossy black before the summer is over!

  4. All caught up for the challenge! What? We should have lain in the grass? Omph...I'd still be down there.

Your day looks great and your evening, too, with the grands. Kati and Bekah look so cute in those photos. Sisters having fun.

Our day was today and, though chilly and damp, we managed to put in a fun time.

  6. Well, I *need* to wash windows, but I'd *rather* bake a cake!
