As the name of my blog indicates, I spend a lot of time thinking about home. Of course, my Heavenly Home is the one that is eternal, so that’s where I need to lay up my treasures, and that’s the one I’m striving for. But in the meantime, I have been given this tiny piece of the here-and-now—this home on the edge of town, this family, this neighborhood—in which to serve Him. And, though this is in the earthly realm, I want the things that happen here to be investments in the Heavenly realm.

Kati's Bridal Shower

Can it really be May 1st 2nd? Wedding month?!

Life is happening much faster than I can blog . . . and Kati's bridal shower happened weeks ago . . . but I thought I'd share some glimpses of her special day with you.

(Thanks to our dear friend Frances for capturing many of these moments with her lens!)

Kati's has chosen her sisters to be her bridal party. Older sister Kristin is her Matron of Honor, younger sister Bekah is Maid of Honor, and sister-in-law Sarah is her bridesmaid.

Those girls did a beautiful job of honoring Kati!

Kristin organized the gathering and planned the program,

and Bekah did the decorations.

Family and friends gathered to celebrate!

Kristin had planned two fun games!

The first was "Would She Rather" where guests had to guess whether Kati would choose cat or dog, live in the country or live in the city, Mexican or Chinese, wear jeans or a cute skirt, etc.

(Andrew was not at the shower, but he had given his answers to Kristin when he was visiting the week before. He got ALL of the questions right!)

In the other game, we had to identify spices by their smells. (If you think that was easy, guess again!)

Kristin had asked two women to share an encouraging Scripture with Kati.

This was so meaningful!

Gammy (my mom) shared some thoughts and read from the book of Ephesians.

Paula, Kati's Sunday School teacher, shared encouragement from I Samuel.

We sang the hymn "Great Is Thy Faithfulness."

Oh my goodness. So powerful to hear the voices of family and friends lifted in praise to our good Father who is always faithful! It was beautiful! (If only I could share the beauty, but there was technological difficulty and it was not recorded. I so wish it had been!)

Then Kati was showered with many lovely gifts and so much love!

The flower girls (Kati's nieces Alaine and Macie, and Andrew's cousin Tabitha) served as Gift Fairies, handing Kati her pretty packages to open.

Are you surprised that the couple received an octopus or two? 🐙🐙🤣

The one guy at the bridal shower had to take a little nap. 💙

  3. What a wonderful time you all had! Loved reading about/seeing all the special touches. What a good idea to play the game guessing about Kati's preferences. We did something similar with my husband's retirement/birthday party. I think I saw the wedding date--coming right up! Will be thinking of you. Sorry I bothered you with an email question. Just ignore it!

    1. It was a huge blessing that our friend took so many wonderful photos. I had begun taking pics myself, but when I saw that Frances had brought her camera . . . well, as you said, I was off the hook!

Thank you for those prayers, friend!

Can you believe that our friend was not hired, but volunteered to take the photos?! She wanted to practice with the new flash that she is using for the wedding pictures! What a wonderful gift!
