As the name of my blog indicates, I spend a lot of time thinking about home. Of course, my Heavenly Home is the one that is eternal, so that’s where I need to lay up my treasures, and that’s the one I’m striving for. But in the meantime, I have been given this tiny piece of the here-and-now—this home on the edge of town, this family, this neighborhood—in which to serve Him. And, though this is in the earthly realm, I want the things that happen here to be investments in the Heavenly realm.

The Passover Lamb

Our Morning Time Bible study has taken us to the book of Exodus, where we have been reading the account of God's deliverance of His people from their captivity in Egypt.  The story never grows old!  As we read it aloud, there are times when I am so moved that I can hardly voice the words.

Yesterday, we read the glorious song of praise sung by Moses and the children of Israel after they had crossed over the Red Sea on dry ground, and Pharaoh and his army had perished in the midst of the sea.

I ponder this thought.  If the Israelites were rejoicing in this victory, how much more should we who are on this side of the cross rejoice in His great plan of redemption, that provided by Jesus, the Passover Lamb?

Draw out and take you a lamb according to your families, and kill the passover.
And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the bason, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the bason; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning.
For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you.
(Exodus 12:21-23)

Behold, the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world!
(John 1:29),

... the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
(Revelation 13:8)

Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you.
(I Peter 1:18-20)

Christ our passover is sacrificed for us.
(I Corinthians 5:7)

  1. That is my favorite hymn. I loved hearing it sung here this morning. You are right. though I may feel gloomy and out of sorts, I have nothing to fear for I am on this side of the cross. He's paid the price for all eternity and there's nothing more for me to do than thank Him and allow Him to live through me. Have a wonderful Easter all you Thinking of Home Peeps!

  2. Fabulous hymn sung by Selah... so perfect. My heart is singing this morning.

The girls and I were just discussing the passover and it's significance, also the fact that it was the passover meal that Jesus was eating with the disciples when He explained what was about to occur. Everything in scripture is perfect. The Author of our salvation wrote a rich, rich story for us. He made sure that everything pointed to Him so we would be sure not to miss it. How is it that so many do?

This was another beautiful post Perfect Cheryl... :)

    Blessings, Debbie
