As the name of my blog indicates, I spend a lot of time thinking about home. Of course, my Heavenly Home is the one that is eternal, so that’s where I need to lay up my treasures, and that’s the one I’m striving for. But in the meantime, I have been given this tiny piece of the here-and-now—this home on the edge of town, this family, this neighborhood—in which to serve Him. And, though this is in the earthly realm, I want the things that happen here to be investments in the Heavenly realm.

Sunday Snapshots: I Scream, You Scream...

(You know the rest...)

We all scream
 For ice cream!

It must be summer.

Kids running through the sprinkler.
Adults seeking the shady spots on the patio.
The first homemade ice cream of the year.

Ron used his new (to him) White Mountain ice cream freezer today.
He told us that it was a twenty-year-old freezer that had never made ice cream before this afternoon.

(I don't think it will be another twenty years.)

And when Papa opened the lid for the great reveal,
the kiddos DID "scream for ice cream"!

(Actually, it was more like a cheer, but that doesn't fit with the rhyme.)

What tells you it's summer?

  1. The heat tells me it's summer! ha ha ha! Wow it's here isn't it?

We are ice cream lovers here too, and this week we have been enjoying popsicles, also.

I guess really though, when my parents open their pool is the beginning of summer!

  2. I'm in transition! Ha! Since my kids are now in Oregon, I won't be sitting on the porch on Sunday afternoons watching my grands do cartwheels and climb trees. The heat yesterday told me it was summer, though! LT had to buy a hat while we were out to protect his (balding) head from the sun. He never remembers a hat, so I guess that's the first of this seasons collection! Now the homemade ice cream...if you are taking orders, make mine peach!!

  3. Sounds like summer to me. I think I'd be very excited about homemade ice cream, too.
