As the name of my blog indicates, I spend a lot of time thinking about home. Of course, my Heavenly Home is the one that is eternal, so that’s where I need to lay up my treasures, and that’s the one I’m striving for. But in the meantime, I have been given this tiny piece of the here-and-now—this nearly six-acre tract of land, this farmhouse, this domain—in which to serve Him. And, though this is in the earthly realm, I want the things that happen here to be investments in the Heavenly realm.

Summer: It's Here

Yes it is.  The scientists who keep track of such things as solstices and all that say so.  The soaring temperatures say it too.  And summer has begun at our house.

This week...
  • Bekah, in no particular hurry, completed her "formal" studies for her 5th grade year.  We are officially on summer break.

  • We made a trip to the beach...on the hottest day of the year so far.  (More cute pictures over at Kristin's blog today!)

  • We ate this yummy salad.  (Look for the recipe this coming Tuesday.)

  • I began my list of summer projects.  Mostly cleaning and organizing types of projects, although I do hope to get the rest of the kitchen painted.  The "new" part kind of shows up the old part.

So here we go...

What are you looking forward to this summer?

  1. Well, I love the gardens in the summer - and I like to go to the park with the creek, and to my parents pool...

I love air conditioning, and salads for dinner...

I love the 4th of July!

  2. You know, I'm not looking forward to anything, which means trouble. I'm in a slump so must start thinking about an excellent list such as yours and planning. Planning gatherings and events is always good for getting out of a slump.

Enjoyed catching up on some of your previous posts.
