As the name of my blog indicates, I spend a lot of time thinking about home. Of course, my Heavenly Home is the one that is eternal, so that’s where I need to lay up my treasures, and that’s the one I’m striving for. But in the meantime, I have been given this tiny piece of the here-and-now—this home on the edge of town, this family, this neighborhood—in which to serve Him. And, though this is in the earthly realm, I want the things that happen here to be investments in the Heavenly realm.

Sunday Snapshots: Celebrate With Ice Cream

On Saturday, my sister-in-law called to invite us to a Sunday afternoon homemade ice cream party in honor of their 45th wedding anniversary.  So on Saturday evening, Kati made a pound cake*, and after our Sunday lunch of Cheeseburger Salad, we all went over to celebrate. Some of us drove down the road, with the cake and Kristin's cookies and some lawn chairs.  But all of the children, with Papa in the lead, took the scenic route along the edge of the woods and across the fields.

* Bekah inquired about the meaning of the term "pound cake."  Kati explained to her that a true "pound cake" required a pound of butter.  (This one was a true pound cake.)  Then Bekah wondered aloud whether you would be a pound heavier if you ate the whole thing.  (Somehow, I think that I would be much more than a pound heavier if I ate the whole thing.)

Ice cream...no finer way to celebrate 45 years. It looks delicious, too.

    Bekah is asking great questions!
