As the name of my blog indicates, I spend a lot of time thinking about home. Of course, my Heavenly Home is the one that is eternal, so that’s where I need to lay up my treasures, and that’s the one I’m striving for. But in the meantime, I have been given this tiny piece of the here-and-now—this home on the edge of town, this family, this neighborhood—in which to serve Him. And, though this is in the earthly realm, I want the things that happen here to be investments in the Heavenly realm.

Pressing On...Through His Grace

As I look ahead to a new year, I am pondering these words...

“I am not what I ought to be, I am not what I want to be, I am not what I hope to be in another world;
but still I am not what I once used to be,
and by the grace of God I am what I am.”
~ John Newton

I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
~ Phillipians 3:14

  1. What wondrous words to ponder, Cheryl. Pressing on. But not just pressing on for the sake of pressing on, but for the sake of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. I'm reminded of Much-Afraid in Hinds Feet, who at one point in her journey to the High Places looked back upon her time in the Valley of Humiliation and said the words ... "I was once that girl, but I am not that girl now!" Yesterday, I read a quote by Augustine that said ... "A Christian should be an Alleluia from head to foot." Amen.

    Praying you and your dear family will know the deepest of joys in the coming new year! I love all of you ....

  2. My thoughts too and my prayer. Praying for God's continued blessings for you and your family Cheryl in this newear.
    Hugs, Sue
