As the name of my blog indicates, I spend a lot of time thinking about home. Of course, my Heavenly Home is the one that is eternal, so that’s where I need to lay up my treasures, and that’s the one I’m striving for. But in the meantime, I have been given this tiny piece of the here-and-now—this home on the edge of town, this family, this neighborhood—in which to serve Him. And, though this is in the earthly realm, I want the things that happen here to be investments in the Heavenly realm.

Robin

Yesterday we said good-bye to my beautiful aunt.

Robin was my mom's youngest sister, only nine years older than me. She was also a wife to Tom, mother to Ashley, Milly (MIL = mother-in-law) to Heath, and a grandmother to five-week-old Emma. She was bright, fun, artistic, courageous, fantastic decorator, hilarious, an overcomer, creative, generous, detail-oriented, vivacious, a planner, athletic, and gorgeous.

And she was loved by many. She will be terribly missed.

  9. My deepest condolences to your family on the loss of Robin. I, too, have an aunt just nine years older than myself. She certainly was a beautiful woman and I think you are showing some of the things she created, I have a doorstop much like that one painted on a brick from my aunt. Praying for comfort for all. It is good that she was able to meet little Emma. You will see her again one day.

    1. Thank you, Vee, for your words of comfort and understanding, and for your prayers. Yes, the birdhouse and the doorstop (a replica of The Farmhouse) are both items in my house that Robin created. I am so thankful for Emma and that Robin was able to meet her and hold her . . . such a mercy. I am also thankful for that hope of seeing her again.
