As the name of my blog indicates, I spend a lot of time thinking about home. Of course, my Heavenly Home is the one that is eternal, so that’s where I need to lay up my treasures, and that’s the one I’m striving for. But in the meantime, I have been given this tiny piece of the here-and-now—this home on the edge of town, this family, this neighborhood—in which to serve Him. And, though this is in the earthly realm, I want the things that happen here to be investments in the Heavenly realm.

Eighteen!

This weekend, we celebrated one of our best gifts ever: our Rebekah Hope who is now eighteen years old!!

If you know our story, you may remember that there were difficult days before and after Bekah was born. (Part of our story is ~here~ and part is ~here~.) But is was all a part of God's plan and every dark day was worth it. Our Bekah has been such a wonderful blessing in our lives!

Bekah brings music and joy and laughter and grace and beauty into our world. She is an "old soul" who loves old hymns and classical music, old movies and Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly. She loves to read. She has an eye for fashion and home decor. She has a tender heart and loves babies and animals (especially cats) and she adores her nieces and nephews. She is always willing to play a hymn (or two or three or ten) for me any time I ask. She loves to sing. She loves the Lord! (And isn't that the most important thing?!)

Bekah, we love you so much and we thank God for you! We look forward to seeing your adult years unfold as you follow His leading. We pray that you will always seek His face!

    1. We are so blessed! Oh, those cupcakes were so good . . . made by the birthday girl herself! She had been wanting to try making the hydrangea cupcakes (from Jenny Steffens Hobick's blog), and so she decided to make them for her party.

  9. How ever can it be that your baby is now 18? Time moves quickly and I think you will see that it will move even faster as the years pass and the kids have left the nest. The celebration looks wonderful and I love all the blue, of course. I hope you will have a blessed Easter together, celebrating our Savior's death and resurrection!!!
