As the name of my blog indicates, I spend a lot of time thinking about home. Of course, my Heavenly Home is the one that is eternal, so that’s where I need to lay up my treasures, and that’s the one I’m striving for. But in the meantime, I have been given this tiny piece of the here-and-now—this home on the edge of town, this family, this neighborhood—in which to serve Him. And, though this is in the earthly realm, I want the things that happen here to be investments in the Heavenly realm.

Pineapple House | Christmas Tour 2021

Welcome to my 13th annual Christmas home tour!

{All of my Christmas house tours can be found ~ here ~.}

Yes, it's been that long! It's always a joy to invite people into my home, whether in person or online. But, I almost didn't do a tour here on the blog this year because so much is the same! This is our sixth year at Pineapple House and Christmas decorating has fallen into a comfortable rhythm. As a matter of fact, I pulled up photos from last year as I did this year's decorating because we were expecting a guest and I needed to expedite the process!

So, there are a few changes, including our new kitchen table and chairs and a new chest in the living room . . . both of which are new spaces to decorate! But much is repeated and familiar and I'm fine with that.

If you're fine with that too,
then come on in and have a look around!

(Maybe you'd like to listen to some music while you tour? Click ~ here ~ for one of my favorites.)

I don't know how you're spending your holidays this year. Maybe you're sick. Maybe someone you love is sick. Maybe you're alone. Maybe you're grieving. Maybe you're longing for some "normal" in this ever-changing world.

Whatever your circumstances, I pray that you are able to find JOY. As the angel of the Lord told the shepherds,

Not the joy of warm fuzzies or perfect holiday celebrations. Not the joy of an untroubled life.

But the joy of a Savior who came to save His people from their sins

The joy of   Emmanuel - "God With Us."

Merry Christmas to you and yours, my dear blog friends!

  1. Beautiful and charming as always friend! I’ve been using the same decor for many years now and I’ve not tired of it yet!!

The great thing about joy is that it’s not dependent on circumstances. Joy comes from knowing the one who loves us and gave himself for us!

  2. I have SO enjoyed the tour of your lovely and inviting home, Cheryl. It's a real treat to visit, and to think it's 13 years already since you started the tours. My goodness, time flies. I've been blogging 13 years so I might have caught your first or second tour, depending when our blogging paths crossed. I've enjoyed them every year!

I love your comforting and hopeful words as you close, Cheryl. "Emmanuel, God with us." Wishing you and your family a beautiful Christmas. Heart hugs, Brenda xo

  7. I agree with the above commentors, Cheryl--Your home radiates peace. And what better time of the year to convey the peace that comes knowing our Lord and Savior.
Your front porch looks lovely with the swags adorning the doorway and the lamp post. And a favorite of mine is your decorated urn! I think I'm seeing some lovely cedar filling the pitcher on your lovely table in the kitchen.
Blessings and Joy to you during this Holy season.

    1. Martha Ellen, those are such dear words! If our home radiates the peace of our Savior, then who could ask for more?

It was fun decorating the outside of the house this year . . . although I must confess that the urn was not completed until this afternoon, so my morning readers missed it! That's the way I roll! The cedar is faux, from Target's Hearth and Hand collection, but I think it looks real. Glad you thought so too!

Blessings and joy to you and yours too!

  9. I think Pineapple House is looking very fine!!! Love the real pineapples on your mantel and at the front door. What a welcoming and cozy place you have made - love it all! Yes, and seeking the JOY this Christmas. It's going to be a hard one for me.

    1. Thank you so much, Rosella! I must tell you that while the pineapple in the urn is real, the one on the mantel is faux . . . but it's nice to know that it looks real!

I have no doubt that this will be a hard Christmas for you, even with the true Joy in your heart. I pray for your as the Lord brings you to mind. Several times I have heard the song "Beautiful Star of Bethlehem" and have paused to pray. (You told me once that you remember singing this lovely song along with multiple voices and harmony, so I always think of you when I hear it.)

    1. Oh, Diane, it is quite difficult during hard times to maintain focus and remember the Source of Joy. We need reminders . . . often! Thank you for your very kind words!

    1. Thank you, Melissa! I am happy that you enjoyed the tour!

While we hopefully created many happy memories for our dear ones, it was neither a "sitting back" nor "quiet" couple of weeks. . . but priceless!

  14. Late to the party, I do want to let you know I stopped by for the Christmas tour. Your beautiful home looks festive decked out in greenery and the other elements of the season. Right down to the pineapple stamped gift tags. Perfection!

Do I see landmark books on the shelves in the living room? I feel nostalgic seeing those. Hubs built up a collection for years only to decide in the last few years to pass them all along to the children (in one family) of friends - since our boys didn't have any interest in keeping them. He gave them out a few at a time, so each book had a better potential to be read, rather than just simply be collected. I love being invited into your home and seeing all your sweet and perfect details of decorating. In fact, you've given me an idea for another picture for today's post on my blog. Happy New Year, Cheryl!

    1. I don't think you're late . . . we just took down our Christmas decor late this afternoon! :) Thanks for visiting and for your kind and complimentary words!

Ahhh yes, Landmark books. Don't we former homeschool moms have a soft place in our hearts for those books? Much of my collection was given to me by another "retired" homeschool mom. I gladly accepted and now my grandchildren borrow books from my home library for their own homeschool learning. Thrills my heart!

Happy New Year to you too, Becki, and now I am off to visit your blog post . . .
