As the name of my blog indicates, I spend a lot of time thinking about home. Of course, my Heavenly Home is the one that is eternal, so that’s where I need to lay up my treasures, and that’s the one I’m striving for. But in the meantime, I have been given this tiny piece of the here-and-now—this home on the edge of town, this family, this neighborhood—in which to serve Him. And, though this is in the earthly realm, I want the things that happen here to be investments in the Heavenly realm.

Sunday Snapshots: Triple Birthday Celebration

As I have told you before, we have Birthday Season around here.  Most folks have summer, winter, spring, and fall.  When Bekah was learning about the seasons, she kept wondering why we didn't have five seasons, as the Christmas season should certainly be included.

But we do indeed have a Birthday Season in our family.  In July and August, we celebrate TEN family birthdays!  Throw in a few close friends' birthdays, add three wedding anniversaries for good measure, and you have a perfect picture of celebratory craziness!

Each year, we end Birthday Season with a three-in-one birthday party for my daughter Kristin, my mom, and me.  (Hey, it means only one more cake, one more party...instead of three!)  And yesterday was the day for the annual Triple Birthday Celebration.

The Birthday Girls :-)

Some party hightlights:

Tissue paper "mummies"...

...and other creations.

A little dancing...

And I just had to include this one: Papa helping a tiny party guest with her tiny shoes.
I love her sober expression!

Tomorrow, I'll be back to tell you all about our party theme.  It kind of just happened, most of it at the last minute, but it was lots of fun!

  1. I thought the theme was Egyptian! I've never seen tissue paper mummies before... my but you are clever people. :)

What a wonderful tradition. I love that you celebrate all 3 of you together. These are memories that will sustain a lifetime. Three generations of lovely ladies...

    Happy Birthday dear Cheryl!

    Blessings and hugs, Debbie
